New to Forum w/10th Gen Safety Review

Hey guys and dolls, this is my first post to say hi to everyone and share some information on how I got to purchasing two 2010 Corolla S within 1 week.

I traded my 09' Scion tC for the Corolla for economical reasons. First being the higher MPG, zero % interest and goodbye to 20K miles high performance tires!

The tC:

Now to my first 2010 Corolla S: Only got this car for two days with less than 200 miles on the odometer and it was laid to rest. Someone in an old F-150 ran a red left turn light and I t-boned him @ 35MPH; then he ran off. Long story short, my insurance took care of everything and within 1 week, I bought another Corolla S. Moving onto the safety review, the car did very well during the impact. The front crumbled like it should and airbag deployed. I literally left this ordeal a bit shaky, but nonetheless, without a scratch.

RIP my white stallion which I never got a chance to name - more pics on page 2:

Now for my new new ride, a Silver 2010 Corolla S. Her name is Denise IV

So that guy hit and run? Did you remember his plate number? Your insurance took care of everything, so is it a claim to your own insurance?

do you have more pics of the wrecked corolla, i'd be interested in seeing side pics and even pics of the inside(assuming the air bags went off).

Welcome to TN! Glad you're ok!!! My totaling of the 00 Corolla was thanks to a Ford F3500 towing two full sized vans using me as his breaks on the highway, so I know the lovely force of a big honkin truck in a 'rolla. Glad to hear you got another one!

Glad you were okay. Bet few people can claim to owning two different colours Rolla's in the same month!

Very surprised that insurance wrote off a new car. The damage must have been massive!!

Look at the picture. They couldn't have thrown enough money at that car to ever make it right again. Glad to know you made it out OK.

Is Texas a no fault state? Did your insurance company make you pay the deductible? Did you have gap /replacement insurance? I imagine the car lost value when you drove it off the lot.

I didn't get his plate because he sped off after the airbag deployed in my face. It's a claim against my own insurance under "no fault - uninsured motorist"

You are absolutely a fellow Houstonian for noticing a UH parking tag lol. Truckers here always have the mentality of being king of the road. I looked into upgrading my horn and saw your post. I'm doing a dual FIAMM horn upgrade today and then off on 59 to see my gf. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Texas has a mandatory $250 deductable for hit and run cases (uninsured motorist insurance), given that you purchased this insurance along with comprehensive and collision. After what happened to me, I highly recommend folks with newer cars to buy uninsured motorist insurance. They were going to fix the car instead of totaling it but I convinced them otherwise because the damage was estimated at $13K, then I reminded them that they would have to pay me a check for diminished value and also for 2 weeks of storage and rental car. They proceeded to pay off the car in full . I didn't even have to claim any GAP insurance. Probably more feasible for them to do it this way since they can sell the car for scraps for around $8K. It turns out cheaper for them to pay it off than to fix it. On my second time around to buy another Corolla S, the dealership had a picture of my totaled car framed up in the finance department to sell GAP insurance LOL!

my friends all park in the parking garage and I just remembered how they look Truckers here do think they are the king of the road!!! its really annoying! Well yeah glad I could help with the FIAMM horns I never regretted changing the stock one out! But there was so many idiots out on HWY 6 that almost hit me....I was in a parking lot and one came off the hwy and almost ran into me so I slammed on the brakes, ABS kicked in and right before that, a Yaris was tail gating me and I was so scared that he was going to hit me......all that happened in such a little time, that I forgot to honk and the idiot(s)
maybe we can have a mini meet or something......ill see if bazzle91, redrolla, and my god bro. can come out too
