Can I program the door locks myself??

I would like to change the door lock program. It is currently set to default where it locks when I shift from park.
I would like to change it to locking when I reach 12mph as the owners manual says can be done.
Does anyone know if I can do this or must I make the 40 minute trip to the dealer?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

1. Close all doors and put key in and turn to on position (do not start car).
2. Within 10 seconds of perorming step one, press and hold the door unlock button for approx. 5 seconds and release.

Door locks should lock and unlock to confirm the operation is complete.

Ahh so it is! I shouldn't admit this... but I even remember reading that now that I see it again...
Thanks.
Looks like I have to perform it 2 times to accomplish my goal. Once with P to cancel the default setting and once with N to program the speed sens locking.

Got this to work. I had tried it over and over and it did not work. Found some tips on the net and now it works. Sounds strange but if it does not work for you... pull the e brake up and the dome light must be off. I did those things and it works fine everytime. Strange.

Reading the manual carefully it appears that some of the programing can be done only on the car with the smartkey. However some can be done on the car without the smartkey. Is that right? My car does not respond to any of it.

Am I missing something here? Has anyone done this in a 2010 and had it work?
If it helps at all, I am in a 2010 S with no smartkey fob. (I have the key with the lock/unlock buttons on the key).

Thanks
I programmed my 2009 Corolla LE per those directions ok. It took the first time I did it. I didn't mess with the unlock function and the locks unlock when I shift to Park. That doesn't bother me as much. I do NOT have a Smartkey fob. It takes a good long time to figure out WHAT you have by reading he one-size-fits-all Users Manual. Does the 2010 manual still have those instructions on pg 41? It seems to me that the electronics people at Toyota do not talk to the automotive engineers and vice versa.

I have a 2009 LE and I cannot get this to work. I'm trying to change the setting to lock at 12 mph. I've followed the instructions per the manual with no luck. Ebrake on and off no light on, etc. no luck. Any ideas?

Yes those instructions are still there. Still a little muddy clear though.

Okay here is what you do.

Ebrake on (in my car it DOES NOT work with the ebrake down - i tried over and over)
dome off or on door
turn key to on
leave in park
wait until you hear the seatbelt chime QUICKLY press and hold the lock button on the drivers side door. Release it at the same time the seatbelt chime stops. (I think it chimes 5 times)
The doors will make a locking sound to show it worked.
turn key off

THEN
turn key on
Quickly shift to N so you can press and hold the lock button again as soon as the chiming starts. Release lock button at same time chiming stops.
The doors will again make a locking sound.

RESULTS:
Your car will auto lock when you hit 12MPH and auto unlock when you shift into P

TIMING IS EVERYTHING. Hit that lock button AS SOON AS the chiming starts and time the release to be right when the chiming stops.

Stupid question but I have to ask....

Can you program for auto-lock on a 5spd? My Corolla S does not auto-lock currently and it's annoying to have to keep hitting the damn button. Can it be done?
