Im Stuck!

Here is my problem. I bought a '10 Corolla, I had the HID's done to the headlights and I still get the same problem wether the car is off or on. When I turn my headlights on the hid's turn on and immedietly turn off under half a sec. So I read and researched the forums and did everything you can think of. I switched out the ballast, I added a relay, changed the relay again in case it was a bad relay, I disabled my DRL's. Still does the same thing. The Hid's that I bought were from ibrite 35w. Btw after I turn the headlights off and on a few times they work. Its the initial start.

Im Stuck! Any suggestions anyone?

The problem could be the HID unit.
Test the HID unit directly.

Based on what you said, the problem seems like it occurs at initial start-up. If that's the case, the ballasts are not getting enough power to start-up. You said you installed a relay? How did you install it? Is it a relay to get power directly from the battery? You need a full relay harness that supplies power from the battery to fire up the two ballasts.

While on the subject of HIDs... I know all cars are different. Is the 10th gen A single bulb for high and low beams with the electromagnet and the DRL is the one that separate, or are the High and low separate bulbs, I know my old BMW was both and Im too cheap to buy two sets.

Its a full relay harness, It hooks up to get power directly from the battery. I called several places and everyone seems baffled at the symptoms. My only 2 other things I can try is checking the power coming out of the battery. 2) Is take out the whole HID unit and try it on the bench to make sure its not the actual Unit even though i was told the ballast was switched out. Perhaps just a crappy brand?

My DRL's and High beams are on the same bulb. The Lowbeam runs off by itself.

It has a dedicated bulb for low beam and a dedicated bulb for combined use of DRL and high beam. The low beam bulb is a 9006 bulb type. There is no need to have HID high beams anyway since you will need it instantly to flash people - HID will delay the flash by 2 or 3 seconds due to start-up time.

I tried a plug and play HID kit in my 10th gen, but there was too much glare. The light output was scattered everywhere, making it unsafe for you and oncoming traffic. Best way to have HIDs is to do a projector retrofit, which I'll be doing soon.

do the HID bulbs match the ballast unit? i suspect the ballasts are entering some sort of auto-off mode, perhaps too much current during their start-up period or you are only seeing the start period, so they look like they are starting to light but never actually start HID and then the ballast quits start-up period? perhaps try the bulbs on a different ballast, if they light ok then your ballasts are probably wacky.

I'm stumped, too...

If everything is ok, then the last thing to check is the battery. Goodluck!
