Ok so I know its not a HUGE deal, but I thought I'd share my "man moment" I had today with everyone.
Apparently, just like most GM made vehicles, when you put your key in to start the vehicle, you don't have to hold the key in the start position to crank the car, all you have to do is put the key in and quickly turn it to start and let it go, and it will start itself! Exciting, I know.
Huh, really? I figured it would have applied to all the models, maybe its by engine type only then (1.8l). Makes sense though since I tried it on our 07 Rav 4 with the 2.4 and it doesn't do it.

This is why I don't see the point of the push button start, or those trying to retro-fit their cars to have push button starts for that matter....novelty item at best...

I'm guessing this also doesn't apply on 1.8 S 5 speed M/T vehicles right? Because you have to step on the clutch then turn the key to start the engine.

Yes it does work on the S 5 spd. But for sure you still have to step down on the clutch when you start it.
I'm not sure that I've even noticed this or thought about it! I'll have to go check it out next time I drive my car.

Once I put my key in the keyhole and suddenly I had a huge blast of music (because I left my speakers to like 55 the last time I drove it) and I got scared for a second so I didn't hold my key in the ignition for long. I was surprised it started by itself though! :P
