Question mounting radar detector?

I've been looking at a few different brands, and since their legal in RI I plan on purchasing a radar detector soon.. but was curious if anyone has one that can explain how they mounted theirs? A lot of my friends have them in their cars but they have wires hanging everywhere and I'm hoping not to have that problem, I want to mount it somewhere where the wires the least visible and keep the interior looking clean/clutter free. Thanks in advance

I don't use a RD anymore, I guess as I've gotten older I'm happy going 70-80mph on the Interstate without fear of a speeding ticket. If I were to mount one though I would get a Valentine One & get the remote kit so the unit would be hidden from thieves & cops in other states where they are not allowed!

Yeah honestly the highway around here isn't even the problem, but they have a lot of tricky hiding places on main roads/backroads where the limits 35 but you easily catch yourself doing 50 because their so busy and long.. plus they just made it a new law that the police don't have to have their lights on so it's even sneakier than it used to be haha I actually have yet to ge pulled over in the Corolla *knock on wood* I had a problem when I was driving an arrest me red vdub I think they see the toyota and automatically assume it's not a teenager.

I'm pretty good about watching my speed on all the other roads, if I ever open it up it's out in the middle of nowhere.

or to the 12V power outlet, whichever u think is easier. I have a V1 mounted on my RWM by a blendmount mount and the concealed display hardwired right next to the power outlet. i'll take a picture and put it up later.

I hard wired a 12v lighter outlet behind the radio to the 12v ignition controlled wire going to the radio. I plugged the wire for the detector into the outlet and then i ran the wire straight up between the venting that you have to remove to get back there and plugged it into the detector. then just put it all together. The end product is my detector is mounted on the windshield by suction cups and ther is only about 4 inches of wire out of the dash, the rest is neatly tucked behind.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free.

I have an escort passport mounted under the rearview mirror with a blendmount kit. I ran the hardwire into the headliner, down the side pillar, behind the dash, and to the extra 12v receptacle behind the center console.

I still have my original V1 but I figure that it's no good any more without laser protection on it. Don't pretty much all police departments use laser now?

I don't know about where you live, but in RI, most cops have K and Ka band radars. I've had a radar detector for about 4 years and I've only experienced laser alerts as a fluke.

I live in Washington State but I would only use it on road trips like my trip to New Mexico next month.
