Test pipe

I was wondering what people were thinking about test pipes on the corolla like performance gains, fuel economy gains etc. I'm not worried about cali smog cuz corolla's are clean burning engines which dont need a cat.

i think you might be wrong, carb legal engines need visual inspection. even if the corolla was a clean burning engine(which i really doubt is true) you would still need a cat for visual inspection.

im not worried bout the smog because i have friends who would pass me through the visual inspections...its the actual test that they wont/might not be willing to help me on...but thanks for the heads up bout that one.

Unless you're highly modified, a test pipe would offer little to no perceivable benefit for a stock car.

Not worth the trouble IMO.

Being a naturally aspirated engine wouldn't that much of a loss in back pressure be more of a performance hinderer than helper? There would be a considerable loss in low end torque, which we already do not have.

Downstream O2 sensor would throw a code with no cat.
You would need an O2 simulator.
You would need the ecm to be re tuned to achieve any power gain.
I don't know but I do not believe there is much tuning work done on Corolla's.
