My car is almost 2 years old with 33k miles on it. The area around the front brakes looks pretty terrible. This cant be normal, can it? It doesnt seem to affect my braking, but I can brush off big flakes of rust from this circular metal plate (part of the rotor?).
Sorry for the crappy quality of the pics. The lighting in my garage isnt very good.

My dad told me to replace them with slotted rotors, but he might have been joking. I can never tell. Any recommendations? I guess they don't need to be replaced right now, but when the time comes...

they can last the life of the car if they're not overheated

Still, I might be getting rims this year so I'd like to show them off without the rust
I'd like to get something more rust resistant that will last a long time and maybe look good too

I replaced all 4 of my rotors on my MR2 with cross-drilled & slotted rotors. I get many compliments on them!

once in a while take time to remove the wheels and use a steel brush to brush off some rust. i know the rust will come back. maybe i just have too much time on my hands but i do that sometimes.
How much do rotors like that usually cost? I'd only need 2 obviously, but is it worth it?
I did all 4 of mine on my MR2, but they were less than $125 for all 4 several years ago on eBay.

what you can do if you don't want to change your rotors is just clean off the rust and then just paint over them.
silver paint on them would give them that "like new" look and black is another color that comes to mind that still would make things look tasteful no matter what the car's color is.
