Loose Aux Port?

When I'm listeining to my iPod and I bump the aux cable or go over a rough road, the stereo switches from aux to cd. I have to jiggle the cord and then it'll let me switch back to aux. I've had this problem with multiple cables, both old and new, so that leads me to believe there is a loose connection of some kind in my aux port.

Does anyone have any advice how to fix this? Has anyone had a similar problem? I'd really like to avoid taking my car to the dealer if possible.

When playing via Aux and it is unplugged at the Aux Port end, it switches to radio. If you have tried a new GOOD cable (I bought an el-cheap-o and had this issue, bought a good cable and all ok), then it looks like the connection to the Aux port in the dash is loose somewhere.

That's the conclusion I've come to, but I'm just not sure how to check it out and fix it.

you could snap off the gray trim around it and see if you can follow the wires... if not, dealership may be the way to go unfortunately.

That's what I was afraid of. Oh well, at least it still works. I'll bring it up on my next oil change. I've had some trouble with my local dealership, so I was hoping to avoid taking this problem to them.

I'll try checking it out myself. What's the best way to remove the gray trim? I've never found it described in super clear detail.

if you plan on taking it to the dealer, dont do anything until they take a look at it. they might say the damage was your fault.
