My failed attempt at redding out tail lights..
I love the looks of the "smoked" look of the signals, and I think it looks great.
But what I used was Tail Light Repair tape, it wasn't that difficult to install, but
its hard to work with to get a smooth surface.. Check the pics..

Anyone know a good way to DIY redding 'em out w/o painting them or buying materials online? Thats what I prefer, but i'll also take any suggestions

i think it's tint but i guess it can be vinyl. got it from ebay .. pretty much transparent tint like the window ones, but red. does ur tape come off in rain or anything? i wonder if you heat it up with a blow dryer or something during install would the tape stretch so that u can get wrinkles out..

i still havent gotten my new order from xpinvinyls yet, but they said it was sent monday. but like i think you should buy transparent vinyl. Check out some local japanese import part stores if they have those in Texas.
Have fun cleaning off the glue from that tape! Wetsand and buff will probably be your best bet to getting it all off.
Do it right the first time, and save yourself a lot of time and headache. Get some tinted vinyl and maybe even let a pro do it.
Hehe, already taken off. Wasn't that bad taking off, just a little bit of adhesive left. Just rubbed off with my hand. Anywhere I can buy the vinyl locally yall know of? Or best bet is buying online right?

Send inquiry on your car model & year to Andy Mercado: bluebatmobile@san.rr.com
The 9th gen REDOUT may cover that AMBER portion of your later model tails or hopefully Andy will manage a set for you! GOOD LUCK!

blue bat doesnt make a precut of the 10thgen tails yet. but its not hard buying a full sheet and cutting it yourself.
Some precuts tend to be off a little and overpriced. I too agree on buying sheets and making your own. Also if you buy sheets you can make some extra for later and still have some left.
I don't know about you, but dropping $9.99-$19.99 on a precut seems ridiculous. I mean it's not hard to make one at all, all that's needed is a piece of paper to trace.

I got my rolls in today from them, and it normally takes 5 days for me to receive them. They gave me the heads up on some new Black Out film that there going to be offering next month, they said that it's not that smoked film they been selling. It's suppose to be darker and thicker than any of there competition has. I still like the smoke they are selling now, so hopefully they don't discontinue it.
But will see, they said there going to send me some samples since i buy in bulk from them, i can't wait to try them out. Cheers
It's very nice of you doing a tutorial on how to apply these overlays, some people will really benefit from this. I know when i started doing this it was a pain in the behind, i started with precuts and some were either cut too short, shrank too much when i was applying them or completely ripped. That's when i moved on to buying vinyl sheets and man it made my life easier.
Not any transparent vinyl will work, so be careful because i tried some from a company called paperstreetplastics that were on ebay and the film didn't even stretch at all im just giving you guys a heads up. I also tried window tint and had the same problem.
There's one other film i tried and that actually worked for a while was static cling. The static cling product works well, stretches awesome but the only down fall is that it falls off when driving high speeds. That static cling product is sold by many ebay sellers and all over the web, they make precuts out of it as well. But what many people don't know is that it can be bought cheaper at walmart, pepboys, target, kmart, etc. Hope this helps a little, just trying to share my bad experience and waste of money that i have done in the past.
Alright so I wanted to make a DIY for red-outs but my vinyl still havent made it to my house yet. After talking to Jay at Xpinvinyls, he is taking of my problem tomorrow and sending me another sheet of it because of their 100% satisfaction guarantee. RECOMMENDED TO EVERYONE! great communication. great price!
