I bought a corolla S a year ago, was cleaning up some of the stuff in the house and I found a piece of paper that came with the car. I noticed something on the piece of paper that came with the car that reads:
DEALER-ADDED EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES
CENTURY PRODUCTS EXTERIOR
PROTECTION PACKAGE $ 499.00
*5-YEAR GUARANTEE
*PROTECTS AGAINST FADING, BIRD
DROPPINGS, TREE SAP, EVEN ACID RAIN
CENTURY PRODUCTS INTERIOR
PROTECTION PACKAGE $ 499.00
*REPELS WATER AND OIL BASED PRODUCTS
*RETARDS SUN-INDUCED FADING
*CLEAN-UPS AFTER SPILLS ARE EASIER
Now my question is, can the dealer add whatever they want on the car and there's no way you can remove those options? The salesman told me that the protection packages couldn't be removed since it was already added to the car. I was stupid I wasn't paying too much attention to the options. Doesn't these 2 "DEALER-ADDED EQUIPMENTS" sound like another way of saying the basic warranties that comes with every new toyota vehicle? Does this look like the dealer is scamming car buyer's money by rephrasing some of the warranties that come with a new car?
Here's the piece of paper that came with the car:

Reason: additional information
I would have told the salesman to remove the charge for options that I did not ask for and if he said no I would have walked out. It's simple.
A few years ago I brought a Trail blazer. They tried to charge me for Rust Protection that was applied for another customer that canceled their order on the vehicle I was buying. I did not ask for that option and I did not pay for that option.

and thats how it should be. you shouldnt pay for something you dont want, but now that the contract is already signed, theres nothing you can do.
So I guess it only happens here in colorado springs cuz it's a military town and the dealer will rip military people off, I will definitely call toyota corporate to find out what the deal is to prevent future toyota buyers from being scammed. thank you very much for the input guys.
The $499 'interior protection package' is something you can do on your own, by going to your local wal-mart and buying a $10 spray can of 3M scotchguard. Same thing, except it's 49 times cheaper!!!!!
As for the 'exterior' package, that's even mroe of a scam. What else can they possibly put on the pain of the car to protect it from bird crap!? lol unless there's an invisible shield around the car, it's not even worth 10 bucks. Go buy a can of wax instead.
If I didn't read the sticker and understand what I was paying for, I would be too embaressed to come on an internet forum and ask about it a year later.
Just sayin.

well OkSlim, just to be clear, I'm not embarrassed at all, I'm simplily putting this out there so other people will know about this. The dealer surely put that on the sticker of the car didn't they? I'm bringing up the issue here to prevent future scams by the dealer, well, at least some people are benefit from it and read the fine print. If everybody keep their mouth shut, then you wouldn't be on the forum in the first place would you? Unless you are the guy with all the answers.

its just how dealers work my friend. i ordered my XRS with XYZ options. it took almost 5 months before the car arrived. the night i went to get it it had XYZ options plus some stupid dealer installed Karr alarm not worth $10. dealer said it was a $499 item but would sell it to me for $200. i did not want nor pay for anything other than XYZ options. they disabled the unit by "capping" it off. when my car was in for cracked engine block i had the dealer remove the Karr crap. granted, i was informed about the option, that was nice. what i wasnt happy about was, they hacked into the wiring to add the Karr crap that i never asked for.
and btw, the window sticker was missing when i picjed up my car and dealer could not find it. apparently its law that a window sticker must accompany a sale. my car is suppose to have the heavy-duty heater with rear seat heater vent (a paid option), but i cannot find it!! i need to go verify my sales paperwork, etc.

You keep saying the dealer scammed you. Just how the hell did the dealer scam you? The car was sitting there with everything listed and you agreed topurchase it at a given price. Did you not know you were paying a thousand dollars over what you should be paying? I did my research before I went to the dealer and knew a pretty close number to what I should be paying for the car.
As far as answers, I know most of them. Ask me anything.I will have an answer.
