I just bought a 2009 Corolla LE
Hey everyone, I'm new here. I have been researching cars the past few months and narrowed my search down to the Corolla or VW Rabbit/Golf. As much as I would have loved a VW, I decided to go with better reliability, better gas mileage, cheaper maintenance...in the long run I'm sure it'd be worth it.
So far I love the car, but the MPG kind of sucks (so does the audio system, but it doesnt bug me much). The car is supposed to get 27 city, 35 highway. I bought the car last Friday and it was 75% full, already its got 25% left in the tank (thats 3 days). I drive about 15 miles to work but its all highway (literally), so the gas mileage should be much better. Though I notice its kind of hard to go below 2800 rpms on the highway; I never floor the car, I just tap the accelerator and it flies. I know its the 1.8 liter Corolla, but sometimes it feels like im driving the 2.5 liter one since its so fast.
Today Im going to call the dealer and see if my car has any recalls on it, but Id really like to know why im not getting good gas mileage? Anybody know? A big reason I bought this car was because of the gas mileage (i used to drive a mustang)
