My fellow Corolla owners:
I am enjoying my new Corolla S so much that I just HAD to share my joy with you guys.
I picked the car up after work last Thursday, June 3rd, so I have not driven it quite one week at this point.
I still haven't even filled-up with gas since the initial fill-up paid for by the dealer. I'm showing an indicated 33.9 MPG on the on board computer, but I don't know how accurate that is. I would be happy with that kind of fuel economy if it checks out.
The car is a joy to drive, and that moon roof and the JBL stereo certainly add to that enjoyment. Thanks again to all who encouraged me to go with those options. I especially thank you, Jim, for taking the time to post messages and to reply to my private messages regarding these options.
Most of my driving miles are those that I put on the car during my commute to work and back. I drive 24 miles one way, most of that distance on two lane country roads. I drive about 7 miles in town at lunchtime.
My 2009 Yaris Sedan averaged 36.8 MPG for the 13 months that I owned it and drove it to work. I don't expect to get that kind of MPG on the Corolla, but maybe it won't be too much lower. It would be worth the sacrifice of two or three MPG to "move up" to a Corolla.
I read posts about the EPS and the "drift" people experience on the highway. I did feel what they are talking about at first, but I guess I am already getting used to it. It is "no biggie" to me.
There really isn't anything that I don't like about that little car so far. I have absolutely no regrets about the trade.
Tom
