Looks like we get a free alignment also!

Edit: Also updated the comprehensive list of TSBs to include this one.

Good information I doubt I will be doing this one though. I like my steering the way it is.

Should be noted this only applies to 1.8L models, and does not yet apply in Canada.

What exactly will this fix? My only complaint with the steering right now is the shaking on the highway.

only for 1.8? that would imply the XRS either uses a different steering mechanism and/or uses different steering code. this would seem odd to me.

anyone have this fix yet? if so whats the before and after diff?

Well feel odd, haha.

The XRS has a different steering column, utilizing a brushless 24V (IIRC) motor versus the 1.8L models which use a 12V motor. The XRS also has an addition steering angle sensor to provide angle to the EPS computer. The column is different, the computer is different as is the steering rack. The XRS has a 16.3:1 ratio versus the 1.8L's 17.43:1 ratio, meaning 3.1 turns lock to lock for the XRS and 3.4 for the 1.8L.

The steering in the XRS feels quite different to that of the 1.8L models.

Funny thing is I was starting to make a list of TSBs for the XRS when I found this.

No, the 1.8L Matrix uses the same steering setup as the 2.4L.
