Today's the (second) day I'm off to pick up my Corolla! I went and checked out a used 2009 MGM Corolla S a few weeks ago and fell in love with it! It's used with 40,000km on it, and it ran like a dream!
If you're wondering why I say its the second time, well, i was supposed to get it 2 weeks ago. I went for my driving test to get my license, and the examiner was being trained and someone was in the back seat evaluating her. Long story short, I made a right hand turn at a stop sign, she yelled "STOP... you need to let that car go first", so I stopped. About 8-10 seconds later, the car went by, and I followed. It was totally safe, and she hesitated almost as if she was nervous to get in trouble. Anyways, I failed for that. I was pretty pissed off.
SO today I go for my test again, and this time I will sit at the stop sign for 5 minutes if I have to! Then, I'm off to pick up the Corolla! Sorry for the big story but I'm excited and can't wait to be a part of Toyotanation and start modding my car.
I have a license. The way it works here in Ontario, Canada is there is 3 "steps" of licensing:
G1: can get it at 16, can only drive with a G2 licensed driver and can't go on highways
G2: can get 1 year after G1 and can do basically everything (unless you're under 18, then there is limits)
G: fully licensed, no limits
So I've got my G1. Drove it with a G2 licensed driver, and am going for my G2 test today (again)

wow thats weird......in Texas its:
@ age 15 get permit- drive with adult over 21 w/license over 1 year and you can do whatever as long as the adult is w/ you ex. drive on highway
@16 get license and have only a few limitations for 6 months (provisional license)
but they changed the law and now you have to have your permit for a year for people born after a certain year. Unless you will turn 18 before a year.
In sweeden I think. It takes 3 years to get your license because of all the tests ......they teach you how to powerslide lol thats why lots of the worlds best race drivers are sweeds.......Source is from Top Gear
EDIT:@18 you get your "full" license even though theres nothing really different about it @ 16 than @18

Very interesting. I live in Maryland, and our licensing system works just about the same way. The dealership wouldn't let me get in the drivers seat w/o a full license. I had a provisional license (equivalent to a G2, but no passengers can ride with you) at the time.

wow, Missouri should adapt that Sweedish rule. Drivers here SUCK!
I missed the cutoff for the 1 year permit, so after my permit, 6months later i got my license. 2 steps.
That was several years ago though, lord knows what they've changed it to since then, lol

EDIT: sorry I meant Finnish(Finland lol) my bad
oh and yeah drivers in my area suck too! Last week at the same intersection on the same day, I had one lady not look at all and thought she could just stop and then go. It was my turn and then I slammed on the brakes and honked at her for a good 6 secs. at least and then at night someone was running all the stops signs and was going a million miles an hour and again honked......ah I love my horn lol

So I finished my G2 test and got my license and I'm now able to pick up the car. Right after I finished my test, the dealership called and said they couldn't get the car licensed or registered today. Turns out all of the Government buildings shut down early today after the little "earthquake" that hit. Kind of like when a place that doesn't usually get snow has a little snow storm and the schools shut down. Just my luck, looks like I wait until tomorrow!
No kidding. Also, someone asked earlier what they were asking for it. They were asking $14,950 (Canadian of course). Bumped it down to $14,450 due to the rear rims being different than the front. The front are the stock alloys, the rear are aftermarket. Don't quite understand. May have something to do with the accident it was in. Anyways, I'm happy with it, and will just get me some new rims! Unless someone wants to sell me 2 of the oem 16" alloys -_-
Not a bad idea. Will likely have to do that, money is going to be tight for a little bit. The insurance company wants a double first payment followed by another normal payment 2 weeks later, then the normal monthly payments. I don't understand, and it really sucks, but it was the best quote I got by far.
So, as I said before, I was supposed to pick up my Corolla today. Should have been as easy as walk in, hand over my down payment, sign papers, take the keys, drive away. Of course, just as things have been leading up til now, it wasn't that way.
Going back a little bit, to my original quote. There was originally two things that I changed my mind and questioned them on after: $799 Chem Protection (the electric rust proofing crap), and $399 Aftersales (which turned out to be nitrogen in the tires, which was "given" to me without being asked). I had talked to them less than a week after that original quote and explained I didn't want or need either of those, and both the salesman and manager okay'd it.
So I walk in today. Sit down with my invoice and down payment. Over comes the salesman with the paperwork for me to sign, so I glanced over it. What do I see? $799 Chem Protection and $399 aftersales. Of course, I asked why those hadn't been taken off, he said he wasn't sure and went to talk to someone. When he came back, he told me it had already been installed on the car. Yeah, installed 3 weeks after I told them not to. $1200 worth of crap. They ended up telling me there was nothing they could do for me except for remove the stuff that they installed. And there was no tech's in at the time so I have to wait until tomorrow.
No discounts, (in fact the finance manger got extremely snobby) no compensation for the 1 hour drive each way plus 4 hours wasted sitting around the dealership trying to get them to realize that they screwed up. Nothing.
So here I am trying to make a decision which really sucks. The price of this car is perfect for me and I can't afford any more. It is a rather low price because it is an accident repair. It is THE car that I want and I love everything about it. Do I forget the service and get it all over with and enjoy the car, or tell them I'm done with them and try to find another good deal.
Sorry for the long wall of text. I'm extremely pissed off and am having a hard time deciding what to do here.
