Rattle sound in head liner

For the past few weeks I had heard a rattle sound from the headliner area, towards the back of the vehicle. It sounded like two coat hangers banging together. The noise progressively got worse, and it made no difference if the roads were smooth or rough.

I went to the dealer and they found that the "Roof antena cable housing rattling against headliner and roof sheet metal."

Remedy? "Remove headliner and insulate cable guide with foam and reassemble car."

Now it is completely rattle free--- just thought I should post this in case anyone had a similar issue---- they fixed mine under warranty.

sorry, should've tacked my comment onto that thread...

but now you know exactly what the noise is, and can walk into the dealer and tell them exactly what the issue is.. to avoid wasting time while they "diagnose" or try to "reproduce" the problem sound.

if a mod wants to move this post, please feel free.

The same thing goes with the drain tubes that catch water leakage from the sunroof when closed. They fill with water, get heavier and can sometimes rattle on the roof until you hit highway speeds and clear out the tubes.

PITA...gotta take mine in again for the um-teenth time.
