Hi...I own a 2010 Corolla which we purchased back in August. At this point I'm not sure if I would ever buy another. It's been one thing after another. The latest was the high pitched sound, which after months was finally illiminated do to a suggestion from this website. The dealership would not accept my suggestion of adjusting the accelerator body, but finally after a Toyota rep looked at the car that's exactly what the fix turned out to be!
Now the problem is idle flucuation @ 1200-1400 rpms. It usually goes down 200 rpm's or so and then back up with a jerk on the drive...Any ideas would be apprechaited...Thanks, Steve
I'm moving your thread over to the Corolla forums so the members there can help you out. Also, I recommend that you use that forum's search tool to see if there are any past threads that address your RPM issue. Hope you find a resolution.

You know, I just started noticing an idle "jerk" where the RPM drops suddenly and then goes back up. It's not easy to replicate so I won't waste my time at the dealership just yet. Hopefully if somethings going to go wrong, it'll happen before my warranty is up in > 1500 miles

Funny how my car have the same issues you describe, high pitch noise on light pressure to the pedal and the stupid "jerk" in rpm due to the time delay. you probably notice it alot during tight merges when you gas the car but wonder why there is that 2 second delay of nothing and then BOOM, you jet off next.
My toyota dealership still can't fix that noise issue. what exactly did you tell them?
As for the acceleration issue, i also bought that to their attention and in their words "that's how it is"
I've noticed this issue with most cars but more common when the A/C is on. I also don't see the rpm's drop as low as 200 in any car I've had. The low point seems to be around 500 rpm's on most cars.
On my 09 Corolla S it varies a little bit but nothing out of the ordinary. I hope that you get things worked out. I love my Corolla S.
