What type of 3 pos switch are you looking for? SPTT?

You can get one from Digikey
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...me=480-2134-ND

or Parts Express:
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=060-780

Cut a hole in the cover and push the in the switch. The switch has a trim portion that is larger than the switch body so the cut doesn't have to be exact. You can use a Dremel or a small saw, e.g. keyhole saw, or similar to make the cuts.

i ended up using a toggle switch from radio shack, but i had to trim all the extra fins on the back of the blank. took about an hour. i have no idea why the blanks are made that way. goofyest thing i ever seen. looks great though. i'll post some pics after i charge my camera batteries.

It makes the plastic cover rigid.

Can you post pics of your "prep work"? I thought I remembered you saying you had to shave the actual switch blank hole. Would it be possible to just shave down the switch? I really want these but I dont wanna waste $13 if its not gonna fit.

I am going to borrow Ried's pics (thanks!)

The the plastic walls surrounding the switch that's really all the needs to be ground down. The switch off of Oznium is just too wide to fit in there with the plastic wall left in. All in all it took me about 15 minutes and a dremel.

i need to get a dremmel. i used a razor knife. it got the job done bit it was PIA. by the way how do i get the pics in the post instead of the links? all yeah the radio shack part number is 275-0711. i'd of liked to had somethin with a smaller toggle but thats all my radio shack had. my local is kinda rural. the radio shacks in the city have a better selection.

I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, but I believe US safety regulations did away with toggle switches (a protrusion hazzard) in cars in the late 60s or 70s. I am pretty sure no US market auto manufacturer uses them for cars anymore. A rocker switch is preferable if you can find one, and it would look more OEM. My 67 MGB GT had toggle switches but I noticed MG changed over to rocker switches in the later models. MG pretty much didn't change the MGB design unless it had to in order to meet US market automobile emissions and safety regulations.
