do you like the corolla or wish you bought something else?
It seems everyday that i am on here someone is saying or complaining about something with this car...... i mean i have been with the camry forums and tacomaworld the last 4 years and have never seen so much crap about a model from toyota as I have seen in the corolla forum... I have one coming in on friday that I ordered on the 5th and I am having a lot of doubts now with this car. So my question is would you buy this car again or do you wish you got something else???
I love my corolla, however I made the mistake of buying one after the acceleration fiasco. I'm afraid that I'm
A) Witnessing the demise of Toyota by the American media
and/or
B) Watching my car lose money in resale value due to these recalls (most of which are overhyped)

im neutral about this car. I had a honda s2000 before, so i really didnt expect much out of it anyway. I do have quite a few rattles, but 800w of sound and 40psi in the tires will do that. Overall, I hope to keep this car for quite a while, but we'll see how that goes. I dont have a good track record when it comes to haning on to a car.
PS, you used the wrong "to" in your poll, plus i think you need a third choice for those of us that are in the middle.
I am 100% happy with the car...especially when comes to gas savings~! It does what it is suppose to do and for the value...can't get anything better in its class.
I wouldnt buy the corolla again if i had to. The only reason why i bought the corolla was because it was cheap to ins (17yr old), now that my insurance rates dropped, I would buy the Civic Si or TSX...If i know everything that i know today, but back before i bought the corolla, i would keep my 1990 Camry another 2 yrs then buy my other choices.

I love my 09 Corolla S. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. There have been some issues with recalls but to me Toyota is covering their butt after the media & congress forced them into a corner. I had no issues to speak of with my Corolla & it has been a great car to me. I've done some suspension mods & it handles better than most sport sedans out there now.
I'm also surprised at how many negative comments are made on the forum but I feel that is mostly from a select few members. The Corolla Is what most of us thought it was when we bought it. It serves as a good DD with excellent gas mileage & trouble free ownership for most of us. Every car has some issues & I still feel that the Corolla has fewer issues with the recalls than most other models from other auto makers.
It just follows the saying that a few unhappy people will think that the grass is greener on the other side of the street.

I will only be satisfied with mine after they solve my steering issue. I am still waiting for Canadian dealer to perform the tsb which is already out in US. Damn Canadians, everything is 1 or 2 steps behind.

i was excited when i first ordered my car, but then the recalls began. i even questioned my dealerships manager about some of the problems and he assured me toyota has nothing about it on file. he wouldnt let me back out of my contract because the car had to be ordered in so i ended up buying it. two months later recall hell. i should have had him change my contract so they would be forced to buy back the car if those recalls came to light.
doesnt help my drive belt squeals after being checked twice and i still get the stupid high pitch whine from that brake air hose recall. im going to force them to replace the drive belt next time and redo the hose spacer again. both problems should be fixable but i also get a plastic cracking sound when the AC is on during a hot day... not sure how to fix that.
would i buy this car again? no. it's been too much of a hassel for something less than a year old. all the time i've wasted on recalls has soured my opinion on it. maybe my opinion will change back over time providing things remain problem free.
would i buy a toyota again? probably but it would be something higher up, and less plastic... i imagine recalls should be a non issue in the future as well after this ordeal.
...maybe ill trade in my corolla for a ft-86 when they come out.
If the FT86 was available today or in 2008, I don't think many of us would be driving the 10th gen Corolla. I myself already regret getting an XRS instead of the S, and more so now because the quality of my Corolla doesn't compare to past Toyotas, especially in the interior, where I felt Toyota tackled the smallest details right. I do like that the new Corollas have nicer features than before (JBL, Bluetooth, XM Radio), but so does the competition.
Lesson learned: If I had to do it over, I would've kept my RAV4 and skip the current Corolla, because even if I bought something else from another brand, I'd still have a Toyota ..but I'll stay thankful that I have something to drive, rather than nothing at all
Monday morning quarterbacks are also perfect. I say just take care of any recall issues & enjoy the car. There will be some of us that have other issues that are non-recall related but that is true with cars in general. They are made from 1000's of parts & things do fail from time to time. No part is made with a 0% failure rate & Toyota's still score high compared to other brands after a few years of ownership.

I do not regret it at all, at the time I was either going to go for a used Lexus IS300 or a brand new Corolla XRS. I went with the Corolla because I wanted a new car with a new car warranty to cover me. While I have no doubt the IS300 would have been a fantastic car, I didn't want used, and I was looking primarily for a car that would get me from place to place.
At the current moment, the only car I'd realistically replace it with, would be a new IS250 6MT RWD, because I would get the Lexus and still be the original owner. For my daily I'm not looking to fix anyone else's mistakes or accidents or little things here and there, if there is an issue, warranty can take care of it for me, if it's not warranty I did it and can take care of it.
Flip side to that is that any little thing that I notice was likely caused by me and I can't blame it on a previous owner, haha.
We'll see once the FT86 is finalized, maybe that will tickle my fancy, who knows. Perhaps a Lexus is in my future as well. Until then I will happily drive my XRS without regret. I have had it for over 2 years and 50,000km and it has been excellent.
