Guess we joined the club.....

Yesterday (we are still waiting for delivery) we signed for a new 2010 "Magnetic Metallic Grey" 2010 5 speed Corolla "S".

There were only 5 Corolla S 5 speeds within 200 miles... none at our dealership, and only 3 that were the color my wife wanted.... of those 3, 2 were already sold....

We only test drove an AT "S" here, where the only option it had that ours doesn't is the bluetooth... which we don't need.'

For those that know me.... I'm a long time AE92/AW11 owner.... we currently have my 90 ae92 (swapped) "SR5", my wifes 86 MR2, my 87 "s/c" MR2, and the 91 Tercel.... The Tercel was the trade in (and they gave us a whopping $500 for it).

I tend to mod our cars a lot.... but, like the Tercel this new corolla may not get the same treatment.... We'll see what happens a little down the line after we're used to having a car payment.

I'm sure everyone knows what they look like, but I'll probably post some photos as this will be one of the nicer car's I'll be able to photograph (and we have a photography company as well).

Felt the need for the new car since my wife's 86 aw11 seems to be falling apart this year... it was our workhorse and her auto-x car, but it's just not that reliable anymore.

What's your AE92 running? 20V, 4AGZE or just regular 4AGE? Post some pics, I would like to see them.

the ae92 has a smallport 4age running on a modified 4afe computer (so, map based). Lots of suspension including aftermarket and JDM gtz parts.... some other stuff as well... like the front end that I don't know if I'll ever finish (it has been 7 years now...)

my wifes mr2 is relatively stock with TRD wires, a gutted cat, and it's quite low...

my 87 mr2 has a JDM ae101/92 mix 4agze running on a Megasquirt 1 v2.2 with an 89 ae92 gts modded trans, some suspension work, and a gutted interior with a race seat & harness....

I've also had another 7 or so MR2's, also currently have an 86 mr2 hardtop parts car... also had an 86 4 runner, an ae86 sr5, and an ae92 prizm gsi.

most of the photos of these cars can be seen in the other areas on the board... I've been on this board for over 8 years....

Congrats & Best wishes on your new car. I have the same car that you are getting. I bought mine in April. I absolutely love my car. It was a real pain in the neck trying to find a 5 speed. My dealer had no 5 speeds in the lot. I live in Massachusetts, they ended up getting my car from Connecticut.

Congrats on your new 10 Corolla S 5-speed, will be worth the effort over the auto. I love my 09 Corolla S 5-speed. Mine came with the sunroof & JBL stereo upgrade with BT in the steering wheel which I love. If you get the urge to mod your Corolla than search around, my Corolla handles almost as good as my 89 MR2 S/C after all the suspension mods I did!

On your MR2 S/C, you said it's an 87? Did you do an engine transplant? They only made the S/C during 88 & 89 years so I was curious.

You need to join our local NW Toyota club since you live in Tacoma. Go to ToyotaSyndicateNW.com & come join us for some local NW cruising & fun!

I'm on many many many forums..... more than even exist anymore.... though I'm not sure I'm on that NW one... I'm actually in Bellingham, WA..... again, been on this forum quite a long time....

yes, the 87 began life as an n/a... it's a hardtop.... originally built with an ae101 4agze and 88 mr2 E51 on the MS1 v2.2... it was the first 4agze in an aw11 on megasquirt to retain the s/c... probably only the 2nd aw11 in WA to have MS in it.... (first being Brent Picasso who created megajolt lite jr. in his 4agte aw11). Basically sold it and came back in my posession with a rod through the block... it got an ae92 gze... which spun a bearing... and then an ae92 n/a bigport motor with the ae101 sc12 stuff... which I don't think the 200K mile n/a motor liked the 9,000 rev limit in MS and spun a bearing too. Now I'm rebuilding the ae92 gze to go back in. I originaly built it back in like 2004.... so, to give you an idea

It's been around for a while, so I wouldn't be surprised if you've seen it before.... though, it's never made it to 2thebeach..... typically just bring my wifes mr2 (the red 86 above)

The Toyota Syndicate NW is more of a club for the NW. We have members in WA, OR, ID, & Canada. We get together every month for a cruise & we also have install meets every so often. Go check it out & you can see the pics from past cruises & events. There are several other 10th Gen Corollas that are on it now as well as many other Toyotas.
