piggyback

as some of the newer toyota engine has a non reprogramable ecu, we have to use a piggy back ore a a power fc with another ecu.
the 2zr 1.8l and 1zr 1.6l ecu cant be reprogrammed

so is it ennybody here with experince with this one
http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=632

ore this one
http://www.apexi-usa.com/products/?id=5347

I know the apexi is more advnsed and it will not help a lot without forced induction.
but the hks seems to help a littlebit withaut forced induction

I want to try one of these, its not so expensive, but witch one? I want to buy a supercharger later but want to see how this piggyback stuff works before I use 2000 dollar on a charger
I know the basic what it suppost to do. but the apexi seems to be complicated to adjust

I found this one too

I think you're wasting your money unless you have a significant power change that requires the use of an aftermarket unit.... at the very least some sort of modified intake, header, exhaust, and larger cams... and even then it's only really needed for the additional rpm's.

all toyota ecu's can be modified.... but no toyota ecu's can be "reprogrammed"... toyota never had an e-prom based system.

Greddy Emanage blue seems to be the most popular ecu when it comes to tuning the un-tunable toyota ecu. None of them are worth it though unless you go boosted.
