I test drove a new corolla S, and the steering felt real loose.
Is this normal?
It felt like I had to turn twice as much to get it to turn.
And as for the power, it seems real sluggish.
Does anyone know if the power feel is the same in the Civic, and Mazda 3?
All the cars I drive are about the same effort to turn.....feel is way different since it has electric power steering. And of course its kinda sluggish..most of the cars in the class feel that way to me unless you drive the Mazda speed3, Si, etc. normal civics should be about the same the Kia Forte however has one of the more powerful engines
agreed. Electronic steering is different, but I got used to it pretty fast.
As far as it being sluggish, this is similar to every non-sport model (Those being the XRS, Si, Speed, ect.) car, but is more pronounced in the Corolla. I heard the Mazda3 was the best out of all the cars in its class (Forte, Corolla, Lancer, and Civic basically).
I <3 my Rolla, and some people have eliminated the sluggish feeling with a simple CAI and a different exhaust.

+1 i have also heard the mazda3 being the quickest out of the choices.
I didnt know it was the quickest I just thought it handled the best....more fun to drive that is hmm
Wouldn't handle better than my S.

Does anyone ever drive from light to light at maximum speed? My 1.8 has more than enough power for me as a DD. I'll also bet the OP drove an automatic instead of a 5-speed.

No, but anyone would enjoy having some extra HP.
And definitely.

I drive an auto and I honestly have no problem with the acceleration with the car. I really enjoy driving my car a lot, knowing its not that fast, but its quicker than I thought it would be in the end. It also has much better gearing than a lot of the cars you guys mentioned so IMO it just seems like a better choice to me. HP isn't everything... I think with some mods and a good driver, you will be satisfied enough with the car.
