I read about the concerns. Just got my 2010 LE this weekend. It was made 6/10 from Canada and dealer said it arrived 2 days ago. So it took half a day to get the car ready.
Its great, love it.
Questions. (I'm not asking the sales guy because he is a sales guy).
1. Did they really re-program the computer for the acceleration issues? Or was there a devise Toyota installed on cars to fix this so the engine can't gas, if you step on the brakes. Or is this a future thing?
2. Steering seems fine. It took a bit getting used to EPS when making a turn. I did took my car up to 50mph, and noticed nothing. For those who have the steering issue, was this something that developed later?
3. Toyota also offered the 2 year maintenance package. Oil change at 5K miles or 4 months. I don't drive my car much. If my car don't reach 5K miles in 4 months, will they still change the oil? If not, I'm getting a raw deal because if I wait for the next interval 8 months, I could be over the mark on when I should change my oil.
Anyone actually used their 2 year maintenance service so far?
as with ANY car oil change should be done at reccomended mileage or time. 3000miles of 4 months. It can o 0 miles in 4 months and should need an oil change.
I am about to use my first oil change of the 2 year maint (did not pay for it, so wtf) within the next 1000 miles

1. They installed a new pedal assembly, either that or shaved down the bottom of the old one.
2. The wandering steering issue had a TSB issued on it a couple of months back, it is my assumption that the new cars have a new EPS ECU to solve this problem. My 2010, purchased in May shows no symptoms of wandering steering.
3. Your maintenance plan includes a coupon book with 5 oil change coupons, and one coupon for a 15K or 30K service complimenterary. The oil change vouchers are only valid for 24 months or 25K miles, you can use them whenever you want until then. It also should come with a 2 year complimentary road side assistance plan with matching wallet card.

Please confirm. Is this true? Are they going to mail it? Or am I suppose to get it at the time of delivery? I did not get anything like that. All the sales guy did was made my first appointment. I didn't know I need anything else.

Please let me know before I go back and ask.
Yes you get it in the mail, it comes around the same time as your first bill from TFS.
my finance manager guy quit like 3 weeks after i bought the car, so i spent months trying to get it settled and the guy i was now working with told me there was no such thing for free oil changes in a book. I got PISSED and kept harping, douche was looking at the wrong forms. So I got mine late last month or early this month and i bought the car in March!!

I called my saleman. He said I will get a confirmation on the program by mail. But NO coupon book. He also said I'm in the system, so I can get service (for free) at any Toyota dealer.
So this goes back to my question. If I have a coupon, I can take it and say "I want an oil change." If I'm wasting it, that's my business. My lost to use up the coupons.
If the dealer determines I don't need an oil change, then oil change will not be done, because I would not have driven the car that much to make an appointment for an oil change.
BTW, I'm retired, so I don't drive much. Maybe I should have stated that earlier. For this conversation, let's say I only put 3,000 a year. That means I would only get two free oil changes in 24 months?
If I come in 6 months with 1,500 miles, they will say I don't need one.

Your maintenance will come as 5k packages. You will have a 5k 10k 15k 20k and 25k Service. Those are expendable at your desire. All they have to do is run your vin on dealer daily(the portal in some states) to see what maint you have left. With the synthetics the interval is 10k for oil. I have customers use their 10k service at 5k because they want the oil changed. Its your car.

i am actually going in for a service appointment tomorrow for my first oil change/ tire rotation..apparently when i bought the car i received toyota maintenance classic package.. sales/ finance manager told me i wouldn't have to pay nothing up front for any service work and warranty which include "tire rotation" and "brakes".
they actually lied..confirmed my appointment today for tomorrow and they said i was responsible for brakes and tire rotation..but guess what..my brakes are sqeeking at 4999 miles and in need of a tire rotation/ alignment (steering drift)..luckily the service dept where i get my car serviced has a special where tire rotation are 22.95 and got a coupon where 10.00 the discount is applied.
chances are hopefully i will not have to pay nothing up front
