2010 Corolla - Trans Fluid - WS

I was told by the Toyota tech that the automatic transmission fluid in the 2010 Corolla is synthetic and does not need to be changed until 50k miles. He called the fluid "World Standard" trans fluid.

The car currently has 15k miles and I was going to do a fluid change. Since the pan has a drain plug, it seemed easy enough to do.

Should I wait until 50k? I am not comfortable waiting until then. I would rather do it now at 15k or even 20k miles.

It is actually made for the life of the transmission. IMO I would wait. We didn't change our 06 until 100k, fluid came out clean.

I was told by the dealer that it should last past or at least 100k I would just keep it in there until then

Actually, the Corolla does NOT have a trans filter. They run without a filter.

Change it when the fluid is not longer red.

From the research I have done, I change mine no later than 30K miles.

The filter is nothing more than a wire mesh screen that catches larger particulates. Drain plug makes drain/refills super easy.

When I brought my car (@48,900km) into the dealer to swap the radio unit, I also have them changed my transmission fluid ($100CDN)...Just drain and replace because flushing the fluid out would cost $200CDN...

When I requested to have my trans. fluid changed, the technician said it was not required until I reach approx. 90,000km...However, I went ahead anyway.

Nope, same fluid, just paranoid people. Honestly, this car is not breaking down the trans fluid so quick that you need to change it as often as half the people on this board say they do. Some of you change your trans fluid more often in your Corollas than I changed differential fluid on my 400hp Subaru. Send a sample to Blackstone Labs and see for yourself if you honestly deem it necessary. A fool and their money....
