Angry Corolla dead again

Well our 09 Corolla is dead again. Few weeks again my wife over reved it. Accidentally shifted from 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th.

Toyota replace several rocker arm clips under warranty. Ran great, put quit a few miles on it since then during a family vacation.

Then yesterday coming home, I go to pass someone going about 75mph. Step on the gas, gain some speed then nothing. Motor dies. Got stuck on the side of the freeway for 45 mins in 100 degree weather waiting on the damn tow truck.

Wont start, shakes a little when you try but only for about a second.

So now it is sitting back at the dealer.

Looks like I am going to try and get rid of this thing. I don't trust it anymore. Looks like I will see what Toyota will give me for trade in.

Why don't you trust it? Your wife put the engine in a mechanical over-rev, she damaged the motor, and Toyota was gracious enough to fix it for you under warranty. I would say they did their best considering the situation.

I understand that she could have caused other damage. When we got it back the tech said there was no other damage.

The tech called a few hours ago. Same as last time 11 rocker clips failed. 9 were the original ones, 2 were ones that were replaced last time.

They can't explain why it would do this. not sure if the clips were fractured from the first time and just now gave up. As for the other 2 they have no clue.

They are going to replace all of the rockers and clips this time.

I am still temped to trade this thing in. I need a reliable car for my wife and 3.5 year old daughter. Can't have then sitting on the side of the road in the heat with a dead car.

If I can I would like to get a 2010 Tacoma or another Corolla.

this is not really toyota quality problem. The engine is damaged coz of the over rev. The corolla is still a very reliable car.

This is silly, buy an auto or teach your wife to drive a stick.

My wife knows how to drive a manual. it was just a one time accident. She drives my other 3 vehicles with manuals and does not have a problem. Hell I have miss shifted before, but caught it before the clutch was all the way out. Shit happens

There will never be an Auto trans in any car we will ever own. I will and can kill an auto with in a few months. I hate them. I have never had one last longer than a year before slipping.

As for trading it in. I will see what they will offer, but I really am not in the situation to add another 2 years to my car note. I need to pay this thing off so I can get a reliable car for me as a daily driver. Can't afford 2 car notes.

The saturn I am driving now is almost about to roll over 200,000 miles. Runs great but it is starting to fall apart here and there.

Sorry to say, but if you can kill an auto transmission within a year, there is something wrong with the way you drive an auto.
