getting some TSBs done

So I have several issues that I just found out from this fourm have outstanding TSBs. 1. I have the steering drift issue 2. I have the water on the driver side door panel 3. my radio locks up. So If I call the dealer and tell them I want all of this fixed and my car is covered my warr. they will fix all of these issues for free?

depending on the dealer...some dealers would state that they must replicate the issue before they can do the TSB (as what Toyota Corp office states) ...other dealers would just take ur word for it and go ahead and do the repair...so if u go to one and they cant/wont fix it...try another dealer...if they cant replicate it...no charge should be issued same if they fix it

As TLeong said, they usually have to replicate the issue before they will fix it. I don't know much about the door panel water thing, but that should be easy to prove. The radio thing is pretty common. It happened to mine before I swapped it out for an aftermarket. In some cases, they'll just replace the radio without having to see it happen.

Refer to the steering drift thread for more about the subject. If they can replicate the "issue", they will perform the fix as long as you're under warranty, but it may or may not fix your issue. I had it done and my steering was worse. They did a front tire rotation and balanced them and it seems to be a little better, but I still may have it looked at further.

the steering wheel drift one isnt one that im interested in doing because i heard that it actually made it worst for some people....adding the TRD front strut bar made the steering a lot better...the rear sway bar also helped but not as much

Ok so the steering issue is so easy to fix. It has been explained and demonstrated on some other sites that the position at which 0 volts is running through the electric steering pump has to be changed Toyota had it set at like +/- 10 degrees. The fact that for some the fix made it worse I find hard to believe.

For me if you turn the wheel, make the turn, then let the steering wheel go, the wheel is still turned quite a bit. So does this qualify me for the fix?

So far as the water on the door... Every now and then we will go out and open the door and there will be 4-5 drops of water on the door.

The radio locked up 1 time last week when it was 100+ degrees... it has not done it since.

If your car wanders side to side on the highway, that should qualify you for the fix.

And I didnt realize you were an expert on everyone elses cars. I had the fix done and the wandering became worse. I couldnt keep the car straight on the highway, even with a deathgrip on the wheel. It wanted to jerk side to side. So it was either the new computer or the alignment they did to my car. I brought it back in, the tech confirmed the issue, and they rotated and balanced the front two tires. It seems to have made the car more stable and reduced wandering but theres still something not quite right. Im going have it looked at further.

Im not sure why the wandering became worse after the service, or why rotating and balancing was necessary, but just because you havent experienced a problem with your car doesnt mean other people havent experienced a problem with theirs.
