Steering clicking when turning.

Hello, I took my 2009 Corolla to the dealer today so that they can take a look at my steering. Just recently I noticed every time, whether I turn left or right, I hear a loud click that I can also feel from beneath the floor board. I don't have to be moving in order to hear and feel this click, it will also do the same if I put the car in park and shut the engine off. Just slight movement of the wheel left or right. Well when I took it in they wanted to charge me $90 for diagnostic, I denied it and drove away. My car is at 38,000 miles so I don't think my warranty covers those types of issue. What could this be? I searched the forum and found a thread where the guy experienced similar issue, and took his car in ready with the TSB. Has anyone herd or experienced the same, and have a TSB for it? Thanks

P.S Toyota customer service in So Cal is $heet. They cut my pedal cricked and wont replace, now I gotta pedal that looks like backyard mechanics.

I had clicking problems...dont know if you are talking about me or someone else. But I had to turn wheel about a quarter of a turn before it started making noise. It stopped after they replaced the whole steering shaft

The sound is similar, but only happens once. So if I turn the wheel to the left, and then back to the right it will do that click. So pretty much it happens when you turn the wheel from one side to another, no matter how much you turn as long as the wheel gets turned. Even if I just turn 10 degrees each way back and forth it will click overtime I turn the other way.
Under what warranty is this covered by? Cause my 36,000 mile has expired. The thread I am talking about is with a guy who had the platinum 70,000 mile warranty.

One more thing about your clicking, did it start like this out of no where? Or did it gradually become worse?

Oh I see....well it should be under warranty and there is a TSB for it and that is what I used....I have the platinum extended warranty as well
It did start out of no where and started to get worse until it was so unbearable that I have to take it in and they had the car for 7 hours and replaced the lower steering shaft and that didnt work and so they took the car again and replaced the upper part of the shaft (tsb only says to replace the lower part but they probably will do both)

Oh ok you are the guy. Do you have a link to the TSB by any chance, or somewhere I can find it. I'll make sure to thank you.

TSB's are not warranty repairs. They are only used to guide the tech to find the problem. Since your 36k mile bumper to bumper warranty is expired, I doub they will cover it. You might be able to get them to cover some if you raise enough hell.

I realize that TSB are not warranty repairs, but thats how I got my dashboard vibration fixed. I took me nearly a year, every service I would ask then to fix it and they never did because they had no idea what I was talking about. I don't know about where you are, but here in SoCal the service department will play stupid, and try to get every buck out of you. I see them charge old folks $100's of dollars for stupid stuff that never had to be done, but because the elder had no idea, they just got ripped off. So the TSB is like my backup, if they start saying things I'll just pull it out and say "Ohh really? its supposed to sound like that?"
