2010 S auto trans issue

anyone noticed a semi-grinding sound when shifting into reverse from park? I noticed it tonight and my old lady said that it wasn't shifting correctly on her way home from work (revved really high for longer than normal while going up hill with cruise control.) I am going to take it in since it has less than 2000 miles on it. has anyone else noticed this sound? and is anyone else having auto trans issues?

The auto trans functions the same on the Toyota Corolla as it does with most others that I have driven...

When i shift into reverse I always throw it in neutral and wait for the car to stop before I put it in reverse.. I see lots of people always throw their car in reverse eventhought they are slowly inching forward.

the thing is hes on cruise control so the computer detects that he needs to catch speed quickly to match what was set. since revving higher makes the car accelerate faster, thats what the computer will do until it matches the speed set.
