I haven't posted on here for a while but a new part just came out for our cars and I thought I would share. Apparently for now this is only going to be available in Canada. Basically they install an amp behind your stereo and it makes the stock sound system much better. This goes for about $300 and I think it is worth it.
I sell Toyotas and in our showroom we have a Corolla S with this installed but for demonstration there is an on and off switch. When this system is on you get a lot more bass and it is actually very clean. You also get a little better range and the background music is very clear. They are offering this for different models but each one is a different part because it has been tuned for the cabin of a Corolla! In my previous car I had a very expensive pioneer premier sound system and it was amazing. There is no replacement for a whole system but if you would rather spend $300 than $1000+++ and still have a very good audio system I would suggest this!
I ordered this part on Monday and will probably have it installed this weekend. I will give you an update after I have had it in my personal car on the road and not sitting in a showroom.
The info is at the link below and currently they have not teamed up with any other manufacturer but Toyota.
The system cannot be installed on vehicles with the JBL sound system. It is only for models without.
I haven't had a chance to listen to it extensively enough in the Corolla to decide yay/nay on this system yet. Maybe I'll try it out sometime this week.
There is no JBL option for Corollas in Canada so maybe this is why we are offered this.

Jeff
I would be interested in what you think. My one complaint with my car right now is at highway speeds I can have my iPod connected and have it at max volume and it is not very loud. This system makes it much louder and clearer with more bass. I think you get your moneys worth.
Are you using the "Aux" port on the dash, or an iPod adapter?
It's offered on all models (Corolla, Matrix, Tundra, etc. some of which you can get JBL in Canada), however as JBL already has an external amplifier, it has a different connection setup. It is likely difficult or unnecessary for the JBL-equipped vehicles, who knows.
As I understand it, every dealer in Canada was sent the dealer-demo kit for the 2010 Corolla, it just depends if they've installed it in one of their cars yet I guess, haha.
The dealers had to purchase the demo package and switch but I think this will sell. Most large Toyota dealers should have this set up. Not sure where in Canada you are but I am in Winnipeg and we have it set up.
I only listened to the sample CD from Toyota, iPhone with AUX cable, and FM radio.
I have the iPod interface which I am assuming should sound even better than AUX.
This part cannot be installed on any vehicle with JBL or NAV, but each vehicle is supposed to be tuned separately and there is one major part and then a separate vehicle specific part.
It would be great to hear this in person. It sounds like it does something similar to the Alpine Imprint.

i've played music thru my phone and ipod via the aux port, sounds loud enough on highway to me, but i'll still go and check it out. thanks for the heads up!

Had a chance to listen to it today, unfortunately the demo it was installed in is a Corolla which only has the 4-speaker system, so it wasn't identical to my setup.
That being said, I can see some people definitely liking the sound, however I do not.
The problem isn't even really how it sounds, it's that it is constantly "updating" the sound output and I can actually hear slight changes as it's playing.
I prefer a cleaner sound than that, so while I can see it's benefits, I won't be putting this system in my car.
^^ Interesting. I had a chance to listen to a demo of this last in August in a Highlander or Tundra (can't recall which one right now) - and it sounded pretty good. Wish I'd stuck around for the Corolla demo...would have made the difference for me to purchase it.
Anyone know if you can have the Bongiovi Acoustics DPS module installed in ADDITION to the Canadian iPOD adapter? Was somewhat worried that I'd have to uninstall the iPOD adapter...
