Can someone tell me where the thermostat is located on this vehicle.
I'm not sure myself but why would you need to do anything with it yet?

In my 40 years of driving experience, I found that changing the thermostat every 25,000 - 30.000 has eliminated any experience of my car ever getting disabled from overheating. It's the most common cause of overheating. I experienced it once when I was about 18 and then once I got into the habit of changing it, I never had it happen again.
It is so easy to change and for $20.00 to get a thermostat and gasket...why not.
it's behind the alt. I recommend leave it alone and so does Toyota for 100K miles, but if you insist, HIGHLY recommend use OEM t-stat and gsk. Use extra long life OE coolant.
toyota recommends changing coolant at 60,000. That's like 4 years or more of driving. Are they using some special coolant that I don't know about. I find that an unusually long amount of time.
My toyota service guy told me EVERYTHING has a really long life on the corolla. 100k plugs, 100k tranny fluid, the coolant, 10k oil. Seems kinda scary to me.
Like in the manual, dealer told me 8k. Ist right?! They give me free oil change 3x a year for 3 years. Well..me i cant even consume 3 oil change per year.

my manual and dealer said 5k intervals. ill stick to that.
I have found that lack of coolant maintenance contributes to more issues than the thermostat does. Thermostats are built better today than they were years ago.

I've been driving Toyota's for more than 30+ years & I've never had to replace a thermostat. I had over 300k miles on my 82 Tercel & I have 205k miles on my 94 Corolla. My 95 Previa & 89 MR2 both have the original thermostat too with over 125k miles each. While I understand that a thermostat can go bad if it does it's not a big deal to replace it. Just keep a spare in the trunk with some water or pre-mix coolant if you are really worried.
