2010 Corolla - what is the best anti theft system available?
Hello,
Well my 2010 Corolla was just stolen, had it 1 month, and I want to buy another one. Does anyone know of a very high end anti-theft system?
I want to install on both the Corolla and my 2010 Tacoma which is new because someone stole my truck at the beginning of July. (Yup, both vehicles stolen in 4 months!!) If this keeps up I will have to stop buying Toyota products....my insurance company is starting to hate me!

Wait, you're going to stop buying Toyota products because someone else keeps stealing them?

You are really unlucky then. I wouldn't spend too much on our car as it is not really expensive indeed. Just get a decent one with a good price tag on them. But it is your money, you have the right to do whatever you want. I have seen some crazy ones that has GPS tracking, able to disable the engine over the internet using the GPS.
viper, python or any DEI is decent. i suggest a 2way alarm so your remote sounds when the car alarm goes off. lo jack and other GPS trackers are the best imo.
I was thinking of adding the Toyota VIP alarm since it plugs right into the car. I found a guy that would do it for $250/each for both my Corolla & Matrix. On my other cars I've always used Clifford alarms with great results.

1st thing you should do is invest in the Police GPS tracking unit offered by your local dealership. Guaranteed to find your car within 24 hours. (or something like that). Even if they have totally trashed your ride, atleast you would get the thieving bastards off the streets.
2nd thing I would think about doing is getting a place that had a garage. It would be a lot harder for someone to steal your shit if its locked behind closed doors.

I wanted to know if it is possible to integrate an car alarm system (Viper, NuStart, etc) with the factory key. obviously it will most likely be a 1-way system... because if theres anything i hate more than having lots of key on my keychain, its having another bulky object on my key chain (the factory key being the first bulky object)...
don't think i'm going to do this myself, as ive heard some stories of people who messed up and their power windows no longer work, or radio not working...
sorry if i'm hijacking the thread

Yes, there is a alarm by DEI (main company of viper) called the AutoMate AM1, which alot of dealerships install to mark up the price of a vehicle. the alarm is around 40 bucks. installation will probably be 100-150.
