Optomitron Gauges...

So I have been wondering something...

1.) What is an Optomitron gauge cluster?
2.) What is the difference (besides appearance) in the 2009 gauges and the 2010 gauges?
and
3.) What is the difference between regular gauges and optomitron gauges?

After searching... I found this...
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/ar.../t-292457.html

But it didn't answer my questions. Could someone be so kind as to explain this to me?

As far as my knowledge goes about this,

Optitron gauges has a bunch of LEDs that light up the gauge cluster compared to regular gauges where it just has a film and one bulb that lights up the whole thing from the back.

I know that the Optitron gauges for the Corolla are one 24/7 when your driving.

And I think they're discontinued for the 2011+ models

The Optitron gauges are back-lit with LEDs, so they look blank until you turn the car on, except in bright light, where you'll still see some of the markings even when its off.

Google is your friend! Found a better worded answered compared to the one i put in your other thread

Ok, so the sweeping motion of the needles, and all that jazz is the same... it's simply the LED/lighting system and the appearance of the gauges... Thanks for clearing that up!

yes. it makes sense. I was under the impression that the Optitron gauges did the sweep and the others did not.
