Bongiovi Acoustics DPS

What do you guys think about the Bongiovi Acoustics DPS system?

I see it listed on toyota.ca for $370.

Do you think it's worth it?

Thanks.

Just had my Toyota dealer install a Bongiovi DPS in my 2011 Toyota Sienna XLE.
I've had it for 3 days.
I was not looking for huge "sub" beef...but wanted a bit more thump than I had with the factory stereo.
The factory stereo in my 2011 Sienna has very anemic low end.
(It's NOT the JBL system sold with the Sienna Limited model)
The DPS did add volume and clarity at the upper registers, but it did not add alot of thump at lower volumes...
It did add a little bass and kick clarity, but not at the level I was hoping for.
Even with the Bass set at the highest setting on the stereo.
A couple of questions/concerns.
I find that the device seems to over compress some CD's.
It's almost like the volume goes louder-softer-louder-softer during some musical passages.
(Radio too)
My dealer told me the unit is sealed, and there are no adjustments to make upon installation.
Is this true?
That would mean that the unit is compatable with a Corolla and a Sienna right out of the box?
Was I mis-informed by my dealer?
I thought this thing had switches inside that need to be toggled to suit the toyota model.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

to TN Stimpy525 !!!!

I believe each Bongiovi DPS is specifically tuned for each vehicle. So the Sienna model is optimized for the Siennas dimensions, and a different model is tuned for the Corolla etc etc. Since the unit uses electronics to steer enhance the levels of certain frequencies, the side effects of this may be evident during different musical selections.

Sorry to hear that your experience was less than you hoped for. There hasn't been many owners that have posted about Bongiovi DPS here so your information is very helpful.

to TN. If you want more punch than add a subwoofer & amp as that should solve your problem.

Thanks!
I did consider that, but thought the DPS would be the answer.
I will give it some more time to see if I warm up to it.
Cheers!

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!
I am new to this web site...and am enjoying the content from other owners
The dealer informed me that this was the first time they installed one of these DPS's in a 2011 Sienna. They also said that the majority of the sales have been to Toyota Staff. They all love it.
I should have upgraded to the JBL stereo on my XLE.
My 2005 Sienna had an exellent factory stereo!
Live and learn....
