ABS and Traction controlsaved my life today

Today coming home from work, some guy making a left turn from opposite side as I was getting very close to the intersection. I had to brake really really hard to avoid hitting the person, felt my abs and traction control kick in.

I usually turn off the traction control but for some reason today I decided to leave it on.

I didn't think the TCS could be completely turned off on the 09+ Corolla's?

The traction control, when you start the car, you can hold down the button and it turns off.

But when you restart the car, traction control automatically turns on again.

Iam not sure how traction control kicked in under hard braking, ABS will kick in for sure, but not trac control. if your car skids sideways, VSC might kick in. Trac control only kicks in when wheel spin is detected, so under acceleration from a stop or going uphill on slippery surface etc.

either ways, be safe.
