Hello guys.
2 years ago bought Camry and discovered TN. But I’m new on Corolla forum, so hello to everyone.
We looking to buy a 2010 Corolla for my wife. I’m in Dallas TX, Corollas LE at Toyota stores around $11500-12K with 20-30K miles.
looking to trade 2000 Camry 135K over all in good shape, needs shocks, got front bumper painted, hoping to get $3K for it.
In addition I want to get extended warranty for 5-7 years, hope it not going to change my payments much.
1. What is the good price for warranty? I want full coverage, platinum I believe, for 5-7 years/ 60K or so miles.
2. How easy to use this warranty, any problems with dealer in future?
Thanks for any info.

I can't help you with the extended warranty as I never buy them on a Toyota, but to the Corolla forum anyway.
And instead of the LE with an automatic, get a Corolla with a 5-speed manual. You will love the car even more.

corolla not for me, for my wife. she learned how to drive on manual tr. cars, but I don't want manual for her.
Le is exactly what I want for my wife.

I knew it was for her, I'm used to my wife still loving her 5-speed manual. And the comments from other TN members that wish they had a 5-speed are common. It was just a FYI comment, that's all.

i would just stay with the standard 36K warranty then pick up the Mechanical Breakdown Insurance through your insurance company after that. extended warranties are rip offs.

they might be for a Toyota, or another low maintenance car, but the Extended Warranty on my VW Passat saved my arse many times. $100 deductible covered total repair and gave me a rental as long as they had the car.. when CV joints go out on a German car and the total with labor from the stealership is almost $3400, I'll gladly pay $100 deductible and thank God I got it

Yikes thats a lot of money...good move
I have the Platinum extended warranty that the dealer gave to us at no charge as we've had many bad experiences with dealers(tricked us) and I have absolutely no problems going in to the dealer for anything. I mean Im still under the 3yr 36k miles but still...it helps....I've seen the pamphlet and its covers a lot. Mine they told me covers for like 6yrs. 70k miles of something...having checked in awhile. The platinum is suppose to cost ~$1300-1500

What does that Insurance covers? - And how much it costs when purchased from the Car Insurance CO. BTW, which Company you have?

I had a loaded V6 4motion VW Passat. It's one of the main reasons I switched to Toyota. I will NEVER buy a VW again. When everything is working a VW is an incredible car to drive but once something breaks it becomes like dominoes. Everything starts breaking and NOTHING is cheap on those cars, and the dealerships and their "mechanics" are jokes.

I want something similar, but I've read people were paying that much for camry warranty, corolla should be cheaper? no?
I’m planning to keep this car for 6-8 years, couple $100’s not going to change much, but I want to be sure I didn’t pay too much for warranty.

I had an incredible car for close to 90k, before I needed anything but tires and oil changes. I've also had many people tell me that's rare too so I don't know. lol I had a good experience with VW but when my Extended Warranty ran out, it began to fall apart and I couldn't afford to repair it on my college student income. Thus, I have my rolla It's German though, those cars are tanks, they feel solid every time you shut the door.

Do I have to bring car for service to a dealer? Will Toyota honor extended warranty if service done on the side or by me?
Any expirience with non toyota serviced cars under ext, warranty?

When I bought the extended warranty for my wifes car it raised the payments by around $15.00 a month. It is an 8 year 75,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty with a $50.00 deductible. If your buying used or you want that extra assurance, they are a good idea.

I know that a lot of people like the extended warranties for peace of mind but I would save my money.
I have a 2009 S that has 104K miles on it with no problems at all.
Only money put into it is oil changes and a set of tires.
Still runs and sounds like new.
i paid CAD$1800 for 7 yrs extended warranty. went cross the border to bellingham a few weeks back. coming home i notice a crack/rip on the driver's side front tire. brought the corolla to openroad toyota. they replaced the tire no questions asked. CAD$1800 divided by 2555 days (7 yrs) is just 70 cents a day.
