Thumbs up Stock Smoked Tailights

Soooo I had the weekend off and it wasn't to bad of weather and
I was very bored from playing GT5 and NHL 11.
So what can you do.
I smoked my taillights.

Took a good 6 hours or so with 3 coats
cost me $10 and a lot of newspaper and masking tape.

I didn't want them to look matte or extremely glossy so they turned out pretty well and at night, they shine fine no problems.

I will post night pics later when I take some
My car is dirty so there are these light water spots on the tail lights.

The tacoma ones definitely look great

I wouldn't mind going that light, but I had to go a bit darker
since my left taillight was broken and than I put it back together and fixed it
So teh darkness doesn't show the cracks that well anymore.

That makes sense then. I still cannot decide if I want to tint mine or not. Did you just use VHT Nite Shades?

Looks good, a bit too dark for me, but nice! I just cannot decide if I want to spray on (would be MUCH easier for me as i'm use to painting) or vinyl which would be harder to apply, but easier to remove should I not like it, etc.

it looks out of the place with the reflectors still red.

some wet sanding or some compound should get rid of that orange peel

True that on the reflector
never actually noticed it thought.

And I was going to use nightshades but, one of my friends
put that on is civic and it looked bad imo.

I just used all use high heat plastic gloss paint.
And borrowed a paintgun and just did it that way.

And ya vinyl is good but it's a pain in the ass to put it on.
I gave up on that.

For me it was either $250 on new set of lights
or do this.
I saved $240

Would have done yours like mine for $50+shipping costs! You just would have been without taillights for a few days

Way too dark for my taste but it does look evenly done. I just question if others can safely see your brakes lights during the day to stop in time.

Already tested.
I did think of that right of the bat.

I had my budy drive behind me on saturday afternoon when the sun was up and no problems, about a couple hundred meters you can see the lights light up no problems. And at night, it looks like there is was not much tint done at all
