2010 Corolla trunk liner removal

Does anyone know what the proper tools or method of getting the trunk liner fastener pins out, it has two slots on each side which looks like screwdrivers could be put in and pop the pin out but im afraid to damage it. thanks for any tips or advise.

When I say trunk liner i mean the fabric walls of the trunk not the lower portion cardboard that is the floor of the trunk.

erm...i just tried and i dont think you can. ill probably just get a cheap U shaped panel tool, that will probably be the best method to prevent messing it up that I can think of.

I doubt this would work in the trunk. The trunk liner is pretty stiff. However, this method works for the fasteners behind the rear seats.

As for removing the trunk liner clips, I use a flathead screwdriver. Just make sure youve got it inserted as far as it will go and take your time. Try and work both sides if you have to.

Hope this helps.

I use a tie-wrap. Poke it through, fold it and pull the ends together with a plier. Also a small flat screwdriver will also work. Just put it through the opening and lift.

you can use a small flat head screw driver as long as you pull evenly outward without tilting and try to finest it not force it. i removed all of that kind of fastner but if you dmage it you can buy it from the dealer for a few dolllars

You guys should all spend a few bucks & get the proper tools. The right tool can make any job simple. I bought this set years ago & it has worked perfect & I've yet to break a clip.

any small pry-bar will do or flat head screwdriver if going the cheap way

if you wanted to go cheap and wanted to use something you already have, i wouldn't use a pry bar or a flat screwdriver. problem with those tools is that you can only pry on one side of the head.

when pulling the pins out, i usually used a v-shaped pry tool since it distributes the force on more than one side of the pin head this reducing the risk of breaking the head.

with that said, if u wanted to go cheap, an old fork would be better than a screwdriver.

Thanks for all the input. I ended up ordering one of these off ebay for like $5, hope it will do the trick. If not i'll look into other options. Thanks again for all the input.

If you break them instead of buying over priced dealer replacements just go to Napa or other local auto parts store and buy a bag of similar sized and replace them all so they are not mismatched. I believe Napa may even have the exact ones for our deck lid liner.

And yes the plastic remover tools are the way to go for those. For tighter places they make metal ones with rubber handles.

Just a heads up for those interested in knowing, I just received the tool I ordered and had no problem removing the fasteners without breaking them, there are a few that are in tight spots that I may need to use screwdrivers or something else to get to. The tool is definitely good though. Thanks for all the advise.
