NCD new car day

i bought this corolla from hatch toyota in showlow az

its a 5 speed. we love it so far. its way better than our saturn ls2 was.

so this is the first new car i have ever owned, i didn't know about the "breaking in" period till yesturday. any way i was going 80 yesterday so i wouldn't be late to work. im just wondering, if i should worry or is it no big deal as long as i don't do it again till 1000 miles.

To TN aslsmm !!

Looks great!

The car engine will continue to "break in" over the next few thousand miles, just take it easy on it for the first little while....and change the oil at 1000 miles.

thanks. so from what i have read on here most of the After market stuff people do on this car are more for comfort and looks. not really perfrormance. is that correct? im not looking to hot rod this thing but maybe down the road a few cosmetic upgrades would be cool.

Depends on what you definition of performance. Actual power increases...not much available, and it can get $$ in a hurry. Handling...a fair bit. Cosmetic...the sky is the limit on making it your own...

welcome dude

not too many high performance
most people just do the:
-lowering (springs/coils)
-intakes (short ram/cold air)
-exhaust
-strut/sway bars
-rims
-short shift/throw

and a bunch of cosmetic stuff:
-tints
-lights (halogen/HIR/HID/interior LED/LED tail lights)
-decals/stickers
-emblem colour

to TN.

Nice color choice! It reminds me of what mine looked like the day I bought it. There are not a lot of performance power choices but I will say that after I added my Borla exhaust, Takeda SRI & Pivot throttle controller the car "feels" faster & performs much better. Mine is also a 5-speed & I feel like it zips along just fine now.

As far as suspension goes, my S handles like it's on rails.

Good luck, have fun & read a lot of the threads & you will find all kinds of fun stuff to personalize your CSM Corolla S.

to TN and Nice classic silver metallic corolls S!!! I wish I had a 5 spd. you are very lucky to find one!!

there has been studies to show that it is definitely better to break in the engine with a little bit of higher revving...im not saying redline it but just drive it was you see fit. If you thrash it a little the engine actually makes more power as today's engines have been so well made and designed that the old break in period just hurts the engine.

I took it easy for a little and then started revving a little higher as the miles climbed

also listen to these guys that have already posted. They know what they are talking about and I will come back and post more ....but Im really tired and not feeling to well so TTYL
