Best time to buy a 2010?

I've been waiting and waiting on getting another vehicle and i see that Toyota has 0% APR for 5 yrs on the corolla and my local dealer has six corolla S models listed at $19,700 sounds a bit high? but that's the price listed online but anyway i wanted to buy one on Jan 1

Searching online says i should be able to get %7 off the price they are asking since it's a 2010 model does that seem about right? If they have that many of them left they should want to sell them even more BUT i did notice they have 0 2011 corolla models.

I was going to by used but all i can find is corollas with 50,000+ on them already. I drive 500 miles a week to work alone so i think a corollas gas millage will pay for part of the payment. I spend around $270 a month in gas just going to work! getting a corolla should cut that in half.

I've been using a 15yr old Toyota truck to get to work, i love the truck and will keep it but it's a nightmare to drive in the city with all the stop and go traffic plus it is a standard cab which has no room at all.

if i were in your shoes, i would have bought one today. where the people at the dealership have one last chance to sell 1 more car for the month/year end.

I would have to pay property tax on it next year if i bought it today. If i buy it in 2011 no property tax to pay until 2012.

property tax on it would be close to $1,000.

I really don't understand much about the pricing because my corolla was a birthday gift from my parents but the 2011 models are kind of ugly and wired looking and if you can you should get the 2010 model s or xrs I don't know whats your preference.

and if you say that the property tax you have to pay will be paid on 2012 you should go for it, but try to get a better deal $19,700 because is an old model even though is a new car.

I know that I didn't answer your question in full aspect but that is my opinion

Why would you have to pay property tax on a car? Property tax is for a home. I've only heard of sales tax on a car & that shouldn't have any affect on when you bought it unless the sales tax was changing. You can usually get a better deal on the last day of the year because of the dealer trying to unload everything so that they don't have to pay an more inventory tax.

In the county i live in all vehicles get a property tax the newer the vehicle the more it will cost you it's figured up on the cars value.

You only have to pay it if you owned the vehicle the year before so around where i live people tend to buy new cars the first of the year.

You guys don't think the dealers want to get rid of the 2010 models? There old already

My state also charges property tax on cars, but at a much lower rate than the OP. I paid about $150 for my car last year.

To the OP: I would recommend waiting until that dealer gets some of the 2011 models in stock before you buy a 2010. Having the newer models on the lot should bring the price of the 2010 down a bit, or at least motivate the dealer to negotiate with you.

That is one advantage to those that live in Oregon. There is no sales tax & no property tax either, though I've lived in many locations & I've never heard of a property tax on a car.

The 2010's should have some sweet deals on them as they are now a year old. Plus with the 2011's hitting the dealers will want them gone, and fast.
