i have an 09 corolla and i've been experiencing weird accelerating and braking problems. My car has stopped letting me accelerate, while the rpm shot up and mph stalled at like 20. If i turn it off and turn it back on it runs normal again but my engine light turns on. However when i put it in park to turn it off, the rpm is above 2000, when it shouldn't be. Sometimes when i'm driving the car sounds like it's pushing but nothing changes on the mph or rpm. It's like i'm accelerating but nothing is happening. My car has also shut off while the battery was still running by itself. When i brake, the rpm jumps up and down by itself after i've already taken my foot off the brakes.
It said there was a pedal position sensor issue, i changed the wiring harness, but this is still happening. Any idea on why???
I didn't change it at the dealer. I just had them diagnose it. I had it changed else where, they were going to charge me 1200 for it.
I don't get it....it should be cover under warranty. Now you are making a trouble for yourself getting the car fix somewhere. The dealer has 100% reason to refuse the warranty work now.
your 100000km 5 yr powertrain warranty is over ? damn! get it checked out at some other shop then, my doubt goes to the ECU since the harness was already replaced.
i have 43k on it. it was only a 3 yr, 36k. toyota said this issue isnt under the powertrain warrenty.
Even it is not under powertrain, your bumper to bumper is good for 60000kms. They should cover it, but since you already get the harness changed, they may refuse your warranty work....

36K miles = 60K kms.
the reason why i say it might be the ECU is because my dealer told me there were some faulty ECU's in the 09 corolla's and matrix's.
Well there are at least 3 things it could be, the pedal, the ECU or the wiring between them. I don't know why they jumped to the wiring, but that would be the last thing I'd think it would be personally, and the absolute most difficult to change, and the most expensive.
I mean if they checked the harness and there was a problem, that's one thing, but if not, I'd start with the pedal, IMO, that's what the code said was the problem anyways, and is probably the issue.
