Squeaking noise....

Can I ask you guys a question..... My car has been making a weird squeaking noise when I start it up sometimes in the morning. It doesn't happen all the time, and my car has been running great. I was wondering if this has been happening to anyone else. I drive a 2010 Corolla S. It has about 18,000 miles on it. I just had the Engine Drive Belt Replaced last month. It almost sounds like a belt is causing the noise. I'm going to mention it to the Dealer next time I take it in for a oil change. I was just curious if anyone has experienced this before.

Thanks.....

I have a similar problem when starting my '09 S. It is especially loud when the car is cold. I have 45,000 miles on the car at this time. At 35,000 miles the dealer replaced the serpintine belt. I now have 45,000 miles on it and the schreech is there again -- it really never went away. Lately I've been too busy to get the car by the dealer to have them look at it again.

Though it sounds like a belt I'm not convinced that is the problem. If I turn the ignition to the "on" position for 10 seconds or so and then start the car it doesn't screech. Since it will not screech when starting it warm, I'm hoping it gets really bad whenever starting the car so the dealer would not have any problems hearing it and fixing it once and for all. Other than that the car runs great and I couldn't be more pleased. I'm anxious to hear what your dealer says.

YES. Thought I was the only one...

As you said, it doesn't happen when it's warm, and from what I can tell (I'm usually in the cabin by the time I turn on the car) it doesn't ALWAYS happen, though I could be easily mistaken.

Might as well go ahead and ask, do y'all have Autos or Manuals? Auto here, and I know Jim has a manual... that's about it.

I drive a Manual. I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. I'll definitely tell you guys what happens when I bring it to the Dealer. It will be a while before I bring it in for Service. When I start my car in the morning, I have the door open so I can hear it. It doesn't happen when the car is warm, and it doesn't happen all the time. I hope the Dealer can figure it out when I bring it in. I'm curious what is causing the noise. Other than the weird noise, I've been extremely pleased with my car. It's been running great, and I've been very happy with the way it has handled the snow.

Have a Great Day....

Same here! I just never said anything lol I haven't heard it in a week or two, so it doesn't do it all the time. I notice it when I first start it up for the day and it's right when the starter turns off and the engine starts up, just real quick. Mine is a 2010 S w/16,400 miles.
