My Aux Cable is stuck in my Aux Port.

The tip of my aux wire (the part where you plug into the port )has broken off and is stuck inside the aux port. The port is now jammed with aux tip inside the port. Do you think the dealer will cover this under warranty ? How should i attempt to take this out. last does anyone know how to take out the aux port off of the dashboard ?

On a car as new as yours, I would assume the dealer would help out just to help out. Any while they're at it, they'll probably also help remove the air bag notice from your glove compartment...

The dealer wont cover the broken aux cable unless it was supplied with the car.

As far as getting it out, you need to dissasemble the dash. It's pretty easy; the car fits together in a Lego type fashion. Some of the radio install threads, or a short shifter install thread with directions will show you enough.

Basically, you need to remove the vertical silver trim peices that are on the sides of the HVAC/Radio section. You'll see there is a joint in the middle of the trim peices, inline with the crease in the upper glove box. Start pulling there. Start with the bottom peice, there is enough room to get your finger behind it, and pull straight out. It will take a bit of force, so be prepared. Once this peice is un-attatched at the top, you can pull up on the black trim around the shifter and it will come off with the silver peices attatched to both sides. You can also take the silver peices off of the shifter trim.

With those peices out, you will see one screw on each top corner of the trim peice under the Aux panel. Those screws hold the mini-comparment and 12v plug in place. Unscrew them, unglug the 12v port, and set it aside.

Now you can access the Aux panel. Make sure the key is out of the ignition, and even disconnect the battery since the SRS Airbag light is in this panel, and will turn the SRS warning light on in the cluster if it is removed while the power is on. There might be screws on the sides of this panel as well. Take them out, and the panel should come out pretty easy. Just make sure to unpluge the connectors on the back, and the Aux jack will come out of that panel. It has two spring loads tabs that secure it into place in the panel. If you cant get the tip out (I'd try to use a strong magnet first, or maybe super glue), you'd probably have to replace the Aux plug itself. You might be able to dissasemble the plug to get it out though.

Hope this helps!

It shouldn't be covered under warranty. The dealer may do it under warranty, but they shouldn't.

Poor quality cable.

That happened to me before, luckily it broke of to where I can still pull it out, but barely.

I then bought a more quality cable, costs more, but I know it wouldn't happen now.

Ill give this another shot, I have managed to pull off the trim pieces and the little 12 v tray but i couldn't figure out how to take off the srs airbag warning sign and the aux port. But thanks ! ill give this a shot. How do i unplug the connectors ? im scared i might break them if i use to much pressure.

Poor quality cable.

Jeff
It was a cable from Monster Cable so i wouldn't say it was that bad of a quality product.

Just because it's a name brand doesn't mean it wasn't a poor quality cable. Even if every other cable they've ever sold was the best cable ever, that doesn't mean this one was.

Cable breaks off in port? The cable you got was poor quality. Not your fault maybe, but it was still poor quality, haha.

Jeff

Best to push it out from the other end when he takes it apart or just replace it, but I don't think its that necessary.

I doubt the part is made of iron. A locksmith may have some tool to get it out or just replace it.

Worst case scenario is to just replace the aux port. Be careful when pulling out the plug, be sure to pull straight out. The plug most likely broke from being pulled from an angle.
