I know this has been rehashed a billion times but I've looked through a million threads and seen the TC's dyno charts as well..
Price aside as they are so close which would you choose for my car?
OBX Exhaust, Auto Corolla S...
Injen CAI or Takeda?
What I'd like is low end power, I dont care at all about looks/sound. I did the intake mod w/ drop in and didnt notice much at all of a difference aside a teensy bit in high end.
Basically I want an increase in power but not decrease in low end as well..
The SRI is better for low/mid power & the CAI for higher end power. Neither is going to be night & day different but each piece can add a few more HP to add up & begin to be noticeable. The AEM is just for the 2.4L if I remember right, or at least it was when I was looking. You will also notice less of a difference with an AT vs a MT.

If you want better low end pickup.....stick with your stock airbox.
+1. i'll have to agree with this one. even for the xrs....stock airbox has the best low end torque setup. i remember i used to be able to chirp tires in 2nd when it was all stock.
so my suggestion would be get the takeda intake since its easier to install / maintain.
I have an auto S with the ingen CAI and i love it. It can def be felt in the mid-high to higher rpms. It gives the car that extra lil push. At dusk when the cooler air comes around it makes the intake suck in cooler air, making the car run even better. Plus the CAI is always guarenteed to suck in cooler air then the SRI will since the filter is right there next to the engine on the SRI. Thats my 2 cents
I have a fujita CAI but i ran it as a SRI next to the batery for like a day because i had a problem taking the bumper off for the second tube and diference from the homemade sri with the fujita tubes and the fujita Cold air intake its a diference thats is easily felt... i felt no power at all below 2k after 2k you would get like a kick and it would go normally as in the CAI theres a gain in power everywhere especially in low to mid rev top end feels like theres no gain at all but it doesn't feel like it lost it I still have to take it to the dyno to feel if my butt dyno is accurate lol
Ordered the SRI! Mods if you could close this it'd be great. Maybe if some of us owners with respectively different Intakes systems could post reviews in the "All You Need to Know: Intakes" post

Is this true for all brands of SRI? Howcome K&N have listed the typhoon kit gain at around 5k+ rpm?

Maximum HP gain will be always be highest at the higher rpm range but the SRI is a little better lower in the range. They only list max HP gain & without seeing a dyno readout you won't know how much gain is where in the rpm range.

I know you have Takeda. But I'm having a hard time getting one.
Pretty much off topic. What are your inputs re: K&N typhoon kit performance?

I think the K&N is okay. I didn't like the plain looks of the black pipe & I wanted a dry filter, not an oiled filter. Did you try Amazon for the Takeda? If it takes a couple of months to get just be patient, it's worth it IMO.

I haven't tried Amazon yet. I'll check it out.
And yes, I just noticed. K&N is not that flashy. Looks like a regular black tube with sticker.

FYI, I ordered my Takeda SRI from AdvanceSpeedShop last week and they definitely have the lowest price. Mine was $184 + shipping and came to about $204 USD.
However, note that they're out of stock, but will tell Takeda to custom fab one for you. It takes ~a week for Takeda to make it and ship it to Advance (5 biz days), but I wanted to save the $30 by waiting. Overall, something like 2.5 weeks? I'd call and make sure though. They're nice guys and were really cool about it.
Just figure you'd like to know
