Canada TRD strut

Looking around trdsparks...wondering those TRD struts for the scion will fit our 10th gen corolla or not? I really wanna upgrade to something better but not coilovers. Too bad tokico and KYB still haven't come out with anything yet!

I'm sure if the Scion struts were compatible, TRD would say so, and you could use other brands besides TRD, but that is not the case. But have you considered the Tokico HPs from the 9th Gen Corolla?

From what i heard, the 9th gen ones aren't direct bolt on, modification is needed!

What will upgraded struts do? Better handling and performance? Stiffer? Lowering?

Don't know much about this area lol.

Better struts will provide better control of the spring to give more responsive handling.

seems like Koni stopped making stuff for Toyota. the next best alternative is Bilstein struts http://cart.bilsteinus.com/search/mm.../drivetype=FWD

KYB site shows the same Excel-G part #'s will fit 2009-2010 Matrix and Corolla (all sub models), but these would be OE replacement vs an upgrade like Bilstein would be.

the Monroe Sensa Trac is probably better than OEM, but they dont list parts for 10th gen, maybe soon they will.

in looking at many strut maker sites, it doesnt look like any Scion part is the same for Matrix or Corolla, so probably safe to say the Scion parts will not fit or work correctly on Corolla (unless the only diff is charging, the physical strut itself may fit, dunno). may times aftermarket parts have specs that match OE, but it is very possible two different part #'s share the same strut body, etc.

I just bought Koni struts for my MR2. I think the biggest deal is that companies haven't begun making struts for the 10th Gen yet. Hopefully we will see some struts soon to compliment the Bilstein units.

how long do the stock struts last? i hear people replacing them at like 40 and 50 thousand. my stock struts in my 02 rav4 were good for about a 110,000. the ones in my 92 camry were good for around a 100,000. too has toyota stock struts slipped in quality?

There is no definite number that how long a stock strut will last, it all depend how you drive and what kind of road surface you usually drive on. But usually in stock form, they last over 100000kms. Most of us have lowering springs, so it will shorten the life span a little bit. Just a little info for you, Toyota doesn't make their own struts, our corolla use struts from KYB!

But that's not the reason I want to replace them, I wanna do the swap since day one. I think they are too soft for my liking. I demand something stiffer that will give better concerning performance but not coilovers.

I would say it all depends on your area and how much wear and tear they get. Aftermarket lowering springs will add to that too.

the bilsteins are made for the 9th gen also which makes me question their compatibility.

actually struts can last the life of your car if you never carry heavy loads, have the car full of people or travel on extremely bumpy roads. changing springs will not make any difference as long as you do as above.
OEM strut/spring are actually made well these days as long as its not abused.

No the 9thgen struts wont fit due to the bolts sizes and other tiny stuff.

our cars are fairly new so give it some time to see if the struts are compatible. maybe this summer time I'll see if my friends tc strut will fit.
