Canada questions before getting some parts.

Hey, I'm looking to get an cai and an exhaust for my car but before i do i had some questions and was hoping someone could help me out.

I have a 2010 xrs and I'm looking into getting the injen cai but im not sure if i should or not. Im kinda afraid ill mess up my car because of the snowy and weird weather in Toronto. Like would it be okay or should i go with a ram instead?

was also wanting to get in exhaust but i'm wondering if it's worth it for the small gain? Since i rather have my air as silent as possible. i was thinking of getting a silent muffler but not sure if that's a waste of money or not....

so yea i'm hoping someone could help me out in deciding what i should do. Get the cai or not and if it's worth getting the exhaust for the small gain?

Thank you

If you demand silent car ride, then don't even get any of the items, especially exhaust. Anything will sound louder than stock setup. CAI is not a problem, unless you drive through a pond of water!

If you want no sound but some pick up, get a pivot throttle controller. This way you can stay stock but have quick response. Sport4 is your best friend.

+1

I love Sport4 for everyday driving, major improvement over stock. If you want quiet than don't do an intake or exhaust. If you want a nice sound with a little extra power than they are great mods.

Well I don't about the added sound of the cai. I've thought about getting the speed7. The main concern about the cai is that I'm afraid of snow or slush or water getting in. Since I travel a lot I don't want to die on the highway 500km from home.

I know you're not suppose to go over puddles but let's say there was a puddle I couldnt avoid, can I slowly go over it?

I was also looking to get breakpads, could someone recommand me a good durable one please.

As I mentioned before, you won't have any problem hydrolocking from the cai unless you drive through a pond or accidentally drive through a snowboarding site. But I am sure with that much snow/water, you will get stuck before anything, and by then, getting out of your car will be your first concern, not your intake sucking in water. If you are still worry about little stuff like that, get a short ram intake and call it the day.

It is called the electronic throttle controller, not speed 7!

What do u mean a puddle you couldn't avoid? If you can slow down, thats mean the puddle is right in front of you and you can see it...lmao.

In terms of "breakpads", I am not sure. Brake pads on the other hand, yes. For city day to day driving, OEM is more than enough. Performance, go ebc green or hawks!

a good rule to follow is: if you can not judge how deep a body of water is do not cross it. if a current looks strong do not Cross it. people that do not head these warning end up on the news sitting on top of their car or being rescued.

Some of the makers of CAI's make a valve that is placed in the tubing path of the CAI to prevent water from entering the intake manifold.
