As my car approaches 30k in the next 3 months, I wanted to get my front break pads changed at the dealer. First, how much should that service cost? Second, I don't want them to resurface the rotors, are they going to force me to do that. Personally, if the rotors really need to be resurface, I rather just get new rotors. My breaks work fine, don't squell or anthing like that, but I just prefer to have the front break pads changed out after 30k miles.
Second question about the front break pads, was there a tsb about premature front break pad wear. Could I ask the dealer to do the break pad change under the warranty if there is a tsb?
Are you hard on your braking? Do you know how to change your own brake pads ? If you don't know, are you willing to learn?
Autozone has ceramic brake pads that are life time guarantee and you can exchange for new ones, once the old one are gone.
miles are at 30k, they are still good. Factory rotors will be good unless you feel the steering wheel shake when you brake. Avoid puddles because it will make your rotor's warp due to cold water and hot rotors.

But puddles are fun especially when u see ur ex walking in the rain next to a big puddle
but on a serious note...the TSB wont work because 30k is not premature...if u like changing ur breaks at 30k miles and ur planning on keeping ur car for a while the autozone lifetime is a great idea....just dont let the pads get to the metal, if they do the warranty is then void

Lord knows how much the dealer will charge for the 10-15min job with ~$40 cost in parts. I have ALWAYS done the front brakes myself. Super simple, way cheaper! I think there is even a DIY on here for front brake change. If not google HAS to have something.

+1 I have these on my car. And breaks are extremely easy to do. Easy as doing an oil change

Why do so many people spell "brake" as "break"??????
Brake - as in car brakes
Break - as in you break something or take a break at work.

i never had a set of autozone's own pads last more than 25,000 miles, and i can make pads last a long time. i think they call there's everlast. i'd personnally stay away from them. i haven't used them in 20 years though, maybe theyve improved. if your stock pads aren't the crappy ones that were being replaced under the TSB you should be able to get a good 50,000 or better. you'll know if you got the crappy ones cause the inside pads will be worn out and the outside will still have plenty of pad left. if you've made it to 30,000 i doubt you have the crappy ones. i'm not for sure it's the pads that causes the premature wear, or the slides but replacing the pads with a different part number is part of the TSB.

I NORMALLY* go with the cheapest AdvanceAuto pads with lifetime warranty.
* denotes that I have never actually CARED for a car enough to mod it before this, so when it comes time for this car to get new pads I may mid-high range lifetime pads.

Personally, I would stick with Toyota OEM pads...still beats any of the junk at Vatozone, Pepboys, etc. You can buy them at the dealer and go somewhere else to install (yourself or another shop)
I've always used Toyota OEM pads with good results but I've heard great things about the ceramic pads from Autozone by many different people.
