I currently have a 3 1/2 ton (7000 lbs) craftsman pro floor jack. I am currently looking for a low profile aluminum floor jack. i think i seen it up as high 2 1/2 ton or less. mostly looking at on-line and actually went to sears. i wanted the aluminum jack for easy carry and maybe to leave it in the trunk of the car. Well the reason i am shopping around for the jack as stated on the title, since installing the lowered springs the front end have been a pain to jack up due to no clearance. i have to push the car up 1" to get it under the center tow hook while trying to push the jack under.
My questions are:
Are anyone using a low profile floor jack?
what brand and spec do you have?
what is your overall opinion on your low profile jack?
I am using the Arcan XL35R. Its a 3.5 Ton Low Profile Jack. What I like about it is that its wide, its long and it can lift cars that are 3.5" off the ground which is pretty good. The downside is that its a heavy mother. Its over 100lbs but for a steel jack that you probably won't take out the garage, its perfect. I have a smaller 3 ton jack that I take with me if I need to take a jack somewhere.
When my friend and I installed my spacers, the floor jack didn't have enough clearance to go through either.
We just placed some wood boards for me to drive on top of, and gave us enough clearance to do so. never checked if the jack in the trunk could fit under, I should get on that lol.

Here is my $99 Costco 2 ton low boy. It gets under my car just fine with plenty of room even with the Eibach springs.

The one in the trunk is what I have to use when working on my car and I'm on s-techs. I tried to do my first oil change at home this weekend and realized how badly I need the ramps/jack
