Question Mods that won't affect my warranty

Hello Im new here to this forum and I have a few questions about mods I can do to my 2009 corolla S that won't affect my warranty. I bought it from this dealership that gave me a lifetime power train warranty so I don't really want to do too many engine mods. But little exterior things like HID lights, or rims, and the grill and emblem I would like to change. Would any of those be against my warranty? Thanks!

to TN!

No mod will void your warranty, but if something happens, that modification will only void your warranty if the dealer can prove that was the cause of the problem.

since the warranty is through the dealership and not the manufacturer, i would just read the fine print for the warranty.

Dimaoala is correct, but to word it a little more clearly, should a mod cause a part to fail, that part would not be covered under warranty (provided the dealership can prove your mod led to the parts failure). No mod will void your entire warranty.

Its all in the the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. Unless the dealer can prove that the mod caused the issue they can't deny you warranty service.

Understanding the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act - links to the Federal Trade Commission's website.

Still, read the fine print of your car's warranty. Since the Magnuson-Moss Act was written they have started including clauses in warranties. For instance, with my supercharger, it is noted that any modification whatsoever to the pulley will void the TRD warranty even if it is not the cause of failure. Some aftermarket parts tend to be warrantied like that.
