Questions on premium sound, and changing Light color

First off I am trying to figure out if anyone has found a way to change the lighting on the factory stereo. I found how-tos for the insturment cluster and HVAC... but would also like to know about doing the steering wheel controls and stereo, and any other interior lights I am missing [I haven't driven it at night much, just Liz].

Also my second question... upgrading the JBL 6-disk w/ bluetooth audio system.... does it have an external amp? sometimes these can be upgraded individually... my main complaint is the lack of highs, despite the component tweeters in the doors. I DEFINATELY want to maintain the factory stereo, and the bass side of things really surprised me and sounds great... I just want to know why the highs don't shine like I would think they would with this setup.... anyone experience the same and what did you do about it?

thanks.

thanks for the suggestion, heartdisease, but that's a little overblown for now. I may do a full speaker and amp upgrade in the future, but I really like the whole factory system and how it sounds, volume, etc... everything EXCEPT the highs/tweeters...

That is why I suggested that. It interfaces with the factory stereo and adjusts the sweet spot. It comes with a microphone that you position in various listening positions and it adjusts the signals. If you have a factory amp this should work it will take high level inputs. I haven't done it with the factory amp though so I suppose maybe not. O well. Maybe you could find the filters on the factory stuff and put in a little bit higher frequency cut off one?

So wait, are you confirming that the JBL 6-disk system [with the tweeters in the doors] does have a factory amp? That is external to the headunit? If so, do you have any idea where it is?

I'm very happy with the highs on my JBL system. Have you just increased the level of the highs? You may find that is enough. If you like the Alpine Imprint, the JBL MS-8 is even better. It combines what the Alpine does & takes it up a level while also including an 8 channel digital amp which is what the JBL system uses to power all 8 channels.
