DIY Stealth Garage Door Remote. (56k Users Go Kick Rocks)

Warning: For cars without traction control (unless you use a different momentary switch). Will need to solder. I will not take responsibility if you mess up your remote or your car.

Tools:
-Solder Iron
-Wire Cutter/Stripper/Crimper

Parts:
-Wiring
-Garage remote
-Trac OFF button
-Splice Connectors (wire taps)

First thing I did was diassemble my garage door opener. A Genie Intellicode.

I then soldered my wiring that will connect to my momentary switch.

I felt like making it removeable so i didnt solder the power connections. I instead used Male pin connectors.

I then went and cut the White/Black wire(about 3in from connector) on the Trac OFF connector and spliced my soldered wire(silver) to the connector side and my ground (also silver) to the other side of the cut.
I also cut the GRAY wire on the Trac OFF connector and spliced the other soldered wire to it. (gold)

For power I tapped into the Thick Blue wire at the Fuse Box(driver side) which is always on.

All you need to do is figure out which side is positive(left side) and which side is negative (right side; larger contact area)

Sorry, it might be really confusing since i used audio speaker wire to wire this up because it was the only wire i had laying around. If you use the same Genie Intellicode remote, you might want to buy an extra one for 18.50 from amazon.com

Edit: I forgot to mention. If you did not cut pin 2 or 3 on your trac off connector your button will light up with the dash lights when the low beams turn on

Nice write up man. Where'd you get the Trac off button? Since I disabled the DRL/Auto on head lights, I've been looking for a stock button so it looks factory.

I got it from a 08 Pontiac Vibe. For your headlights, you need a on/off switch not a momentary switch. Maybe you could find a foglight switch or something.

Oh yeah I meant a on/off switch I've been searching around the net for some time, no luck. Looks like I gotta wait for someone to partout theirs or check the local salvage yards.
