Headliner

The dealer is replacing some parts in my sunroof and they had to remove the headliner. They told me the only way they could have gotten it out was to fold the headliner in half and remove it from the car.

As a result there is a noticeable crease line down the middle of the headliner. I have not seen it yet and this is what they have told me, which makes me worry now

Could they have avoided folding the headliner?

it's a PITA, but I removed mine in my old 89 Corolla and took it out through the trunk after much cursing. Can be done, but a PITA and dealerships dont care.

take a look at this DIY how to remove your headliner (i never needed to watch it so i cant tell you if they had to fold it or not but it should show you in the video if the person had to or not) if the guy didnt fold it i would play the video for the dealer n demand a new one

The videos were great. But never actually showed him taking the headliner out of the car, so not sure if he needed to bend or how he got it out.

I will be going to the dealer tonight so I will see how bad it looks.

the proper way to remove the headliner is through the windshield. the dealership was just being lazy.

That would mean they would have to remove the windshield and replace. I would be worried about them doing that too.

when i fixed my headliner i took it out the back glass, i would make the dealer pay for it or make them replace it right. headliner cost like $700 or more i think just for the part.
